Nomadic Nosh #3 – Taco Night Done RIGHT 🌮

For Chad’s birthday, we decided to try somewhere new… and WOW did we ever pick a winner.

We checked out TacoLand and let’s just say—this place didn’t just meet expectations… it absolutely blew them out of the water 😲🔥

From the moment we walked in, the vibe was chef’s kiss. The decor is vibrant and beautiful, and the family running the place? The kindest humans. You can feel the heart behind this spot—and it shows in every single bite.

What we ordered: Chad went all in (as he should—it’s his birthday 😄):

Trompo Al Pastor
Picadillo
Birria

And yes… phenomenal doesn’t even cover it
I tried the vegan Al Pastor (which, fun fact, traditionally comes from Mexican street food inspired by Lebanese shawarma—so cool how cultures blend 👏) and it was SO good.

I also had the vegetarian enchiladas and I’m not exaggerating when I say… I don’t know if I’ve ever had enchiladas this good. Like… I’m still thinking about them.

And then… the birthday magic happened 🎉
Churros + a sombrero = instant celebration mode activated 😂

The service? Impeccable.
The food? Unreal.
The experience? One we’ll absolutely be repeating.

This was our first visit to TacoLand… but it is definitely not our last.
If you’re anywhere near Bedford and love authentic, flavour-packed Mexican food—GO. Just go.

Trust us on this one 😉

Five years ago today, we left Ottawa and started making our way to our new life in Nova Scotia. ❤️

It was the middle of the pandemic, everything felt strange, and there was so much uncertainty in the air.

We packed up the last of our things, loaded our pup Rylee into the car, stopped in Montreal to hug our parents, and then started driving toward the unknown.

There were borders in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, which still feels wild to think about. We stopped for the night in Rivière-du-Loup, rested as best we could, and got up early to finish the drive.

We were excited, nervous, emotional… all the things that come with leaving what you know for where you feel called to be.

And then we heard “Welcome home” at the Nova Scotia border.

Instant tears. Instant knowing.

Five years later, we look back at the life we’ve built here. We started a business, made beautiful friendships, shared so many laughs, and found a community and kind of beauty that still takes our breath away.

We most definitely made the right decision.

We have no idea what’s next, because honestly, do we ever? 😂 But we know this: we have loved our Nova Scotia era with our whole hearts.

To everyone who has been part of these last five years, thank you. You’ll never fully know the gratitude we feel for you. ❤️

Here’s to following the pull, even when it’s scary.

Especially then.

In November, Chad and I headed to Wolfville to attend the Acadia Craft Christmas Show, which just happens to be in its 50th year (yep five decades of incredible local makers).

We decided to make a full night of it because Wolfville is one of those towns that’s perfectly walkable, endlessly charming, and knows how to do craft beer very well.

Our first stop was Horton Ridge Malt & Brewing, a small, family-run brewery that focuses on traditional styles with a local twist, perfect for grabbing a few brews to enjoy later.

From there we popped into Church Brewing Company, which is housed in a former church (yes, really) and is known for its award-winning beers and cozy atmosphere, an ideal pre-check-in stop for a snack and a pint.

We then checked into the Tattingstone Inn, a historic inn right in the heart of town, where we upgraded our stay to include early check-in and late checkout (aka: the best decision ever), plus a basket of goodies waiting in our room.

Once settled, we walked to the Acadia Craft Christmas Show and soaked in all the festive energy, handmade goods, and holiday cheer.

After the show, we kept things simple and walked into town for dinner at Paddy's Brewpub, one of our go-to spots in Wolfville and a local favourite for comfort food and craft beer. Heather was amazing as always, the food was delicious, and the laughs flowed just as easily as the drinks.

We wandered back to the Inn, had a cozy, restful night’s sleep, enjoyed the most incredible breakfast and headed home the next day feeling relaxed, full, and grateful. This was the kind of overnight trip that reminds us how much we love exploring our own province, one walkable town and local business at a time.

✨ Merry Christmas from us 🤍 ✨

This year… we’re feeling deep gratitude.
For the ups, the downs, the ins and outs,  all of it.

For the moments that stretched us, softened us, and reminded us what actually matters.

This Christmas has been extra special.
From our very first Merry Musquodoboit Christmas, to Santa parades, cozy community moments, and watching our nephew shine at his Christmas concert, our hearts are full in ways words can barely express.

We’re incredibly grateful to be close to family this year, after being away last Christmas. And at the same time, we’re still holding those we love who aren’t physically with us because even when you’re “home,” there can still be empty chairs and quiet moments.

And if this season finds you away from family…
or missing someone deeply…
or holding grief alongside the tinsel and lights...
We see you. 🤍

You’re not behind. You’re not doing it wrong. You’re allowed to feel joy and sadness in the same breath.

We’re grateful for:
• family near and far
• moments that turn into memories
• community that feels like home
• and a year that reminded us how precious this life really is

If this year taught us anything, it’s this:
✨ None of it is wasted. Not the hard parts. Not the waiting. Not the detours. ✨

So today, we’re holding it all, the love, the laughter, the longing, and the magic that shows up when we let ourselves be exactly where we are.

Sending love to you and yours, wherever and however you’re celebrating.

Merry Christmas 🤍🎄
