Harvest starts at 3 a.m. at Johnson Fresh Farms, and by the time many of us are starting our day, their sweet corn is already making its way to local Co-op shelves.

The nominations are in! Congratulations to Brent Burton and family of D&S Farms, winners of our first Meals in the Field delivery of the season.

Meals in the Field is a Co-op tradition we look forward to every harvest. It's an opportunity for our local Co-op team members to visit customers in the field and share a delicious lunch or supper together. It's a small way for us to say thank you for your hard work and for allowing us to be part of your growing season.

We want to wish all South Country Co-op farmers a safe, productive, and successful harvest.

Stay tuned as we'll be announcing three more Meals in the Field winners in the coming weeks. Plus, keep an eye out for a few other surprises we'll be sharing throughout the harvest season as part of our 70th Anniversary celebration!

Our Agro, Petroleum and Liquor teams had a fantastic time supporting the Elkwater Golf Tournament this past Monday!

Timing your pre-harvest herbicide application is an important step toward a smooth harvest.

Applying too early increases the risk of residue and can impact yield. Take the time to assess areas across the entire field, not just the most mature spots.

One of the coolest moments from filming our Farm to Fork campaign last summer was seeing the different stages of harvest for different kinds of vegetable. During our shoot, we had the opportunity to take in a red onion harvest in action.

What looks effortless is actually a carefully managed process. Tractor-drawn windrowers undercut and lift the onions, gently remove excess soil, and place them in rows where they can cure naturally in the sun for up to two weeks.

It's a step most of us never get to see, but it's an important part of producing the quality local food we enjoy every day.
