The Giving Market was a success!!!!

I would first like to thank everyone who contributed items to The Giving Market—your generosity made this event possible. I was blown away by the volume and quality of the preloved items that were donated. THANK YOU! 🙏

Thank you as well to everyone who came out and shopped at The Giving Market! 😊 I had no idea whether this idea would be needed or embraced, but it truly was. I hope all the kids enjoy a fun and joy-filled Christmas. 🧸

We raised $450 dollars for the Queens County Food Bank!!!! 👏🏻
Amazing!

We were left with about a quarter of the items we started with. I made the decision to pass a little more than half of that to SchoolsPlus, who is hosting the Holiday Market at John C. Wickwire School. The kids there will be able to shop (for free) for items to gift their families. If SchoolsPlus has leftover items after their market, they will pass them along to the Queens County Food Bank thrift store—this is also where the rest of the items from The Giving Market are headed (whatever they are able to accept).

How wonderful that we can continue finding places where these contributed items can be shared forward!

A final thank you to everyone who helped with The Giving Market in any way. My heart is filled with love and gratitude for this community that embraced my idea and helped bring it to life.

Looking ahead to The Giving Market 2026!

🎄 Merry Christmas! 🎄
With love 💚

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE GIVING MARKET

🎄 The Giving Market is upon us!
Saturday, December 6th — 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Thomas H. Raddall Library

The Details:

• 🎁 Pay what you can, or nothing at all.
I truly mean this. I want these items under the tree for your kids, and I don’t want you to worry about your budget.

💚There will also be a donation box for the food bank.

• 🎁 Help while you shop
My older kids will be hanging out in the Library play area. They’ll happily entertain your little ones while you browse, and you can quickly run your items out to your car with no little 👀 watching.

• 🎁 Something for every age
We have toys and gifts for babies, kids, tweens, and teenagers!
(Check the comments for a list of some items)

• 🎁 Not sure if this market is for you?
It is.
If attending would make your holidays a little easier or brighter, please come.

• 🎁 Bring a bag
I’ll have a few extras on hand, just in case.

I can’t wait to see you there and share all the beautiful contributions with you.

If you have any questions or need more information, feel free to message me.

Please share this post so everyone who could benefit from The Giving Market has a chance to be there.

🎄My tiny basement and garage are bursting with beautiful contributed items. I am incredibly overwhelmed with gratitude — the generosity is truly amazing! Sorting through everything has moved me to tears more than once. 🥹🙏

🎁 T-minus 3 days until The Giving Market!!!! 🎁

Now comes the next part: people need to come and choose these great items for their kids! I’m a little nervous that some families may not take advantage of The Giving Market, may feel like it isn’t meant for them, or…

…they simply might not know about it.

💚 Please, please, please share these posts across all the Queens community groups and anywhere else local families might see them.

🎄Pre-loved gifts aren’t second-best, they are thoughtful, sustainable, and filled with new memories waiting to happen. A small effort and creativity can make a pre-loved item feel beautifully cared for, and create memories that last a lifetime. Let’s make this season meaningful for every family!

💚 Here is my third tip for elevating pre-loved gifts to create that Christmas magic:

🎁Refresh and Revitalize Before Gifting
• Wipe down surfaces, wash fabric items, and replace batteries
• Tighten loose screws, reshape doll hair, or polish wooden toys

🎉 I’ve decided to leave the donation boxes in place for a few more days!!! 🎉

The box at the library will be available until just before closing on Sunday November 30th, and the Boxes at both Home Hardware stores will be available during their store hours Saturday.

Please share The Giving Market details in all the community spaces throughout Queens County. I want to make sure as many people as possible know about the market!

Thank you! 🙏

Today WAS the deadline for contributing items to The Giving Market BUT….

🎉 I’ve decided to leave the donation boxes in place for a few more days!!! 🎉

The box at the library will be available until just before closing on Sunday November 30th, and the Boxes at both Home Hardware stores will be available during their store hours Saturday.

I will be using this week to sort and organize all the wonderful donations we have received, making sure everything is ready for The Giving Market on December 6th.

Thank you all for your contributions!
I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE MARKET!!! 💚💚💚

🎄 My family has always embraced pre-loved gifts. Whether it’s vintage items or marketplace finds we have always managed to get things that we maybe wouldn’t have been able to afford new, or able to get something bigger and better at second hand prices. As the kids have got older the types of gifts have changed but the mindset hasn’t shifted.

💚 Here is my second tip for elevating pre-loved gifts to create that Christmas magic:

🎁 Think in Themes, Not Just Single Items
Bundle related pieces into a “set” to elevate the experience

• Markers + sketchbook
• Stuffed animal + storybook
• Nerf gun + extra darts
• Doll + change of clothes
• Hot wheels + track pieces

Themes create instant excitement and imagination, but still wrap items individually so opening them feels just as magical. Place in a gift bag together, or tie up with ribbon.

Remember November 28th is the last day to contribute, and The Giving Market is on December 6th. Check out previous posts for all the details.

Please like and share so we can make this grass roots community event a huge success!
