If you know me, this part is me keeping it real and letting you see the inside. I have a background in industrial manufacturing, I’ve spent a lot of time in automation, plastics and other industries that make the world cheap, products cheap, but farmers, workers & creators poor, we have forgotten what farms, proper craftsmanship industry and quality are. I try to support those older ways as much as I can. Since getting the first shipment in, West Yorkshire spinners (WYS) went up for sale, the mill they used , that was in business for 125 years went into administration due to loss of WYS business. They were a family owned spinning & dying mill, more expensive to use but the quality is incomparable and kept industry in Britain . To lose vintage manufacturing is a huge loss. At this point I’m watching to see what happens with both mill & WYS as a company, but I may be looking for a replacement, which sucks as I love the quality, the British wool, the colours, the vintage manufacturing behind it.
It’s so very ironic, Morris & other artisans created the whole Arts & Crafts movement around fighting against the Industrial Revolution and taking away quality to make things cheap.. and here we are 150 years later. History repeating itself.
For now, we can love it, knit with it and let Morris’s colour palate cheer us up.

Designer Showcase: A Cath Kidston intro for those new to her designs. The Cath designs that are in the shop are not new, They are classic Cath designs that came out in the 90s. Cath started her shop as an antique & refurbished shop in Nottingham London in 1993. Her style of vintage meets new turned into the modern vintage design model., you see that being used by many other designers, often without credit to the original Queen of modern vintage, Cath. They started making small items in house like ironing board covers, then branched out and made her own prints and had the fabric printed in the UK, then branching out into Europe for ready made items using the prints she designed. The shop took off. She went from small shop to world wide want, shops all over the UK, even Ikea got her to do some prints. Her shops were not about sewing, but housewares & clothes. Mugs, plates & other chinaware, bags, curtains, bedding, teapot cozy’s, kids toys, clothing and yes some sewing & haberdashery like the sewing boxes, sewing books, notions, trims and if you could afford it, fabrics. The fun part of being able to get some of those classic prints now is the chance we get to make our own fun stuff. Make the pillows, teapot cozy’s, bags and all the other stuff we couldn’t bring home in our suitcases on trips to the UK lol. There is one Cath shop now, they got sold to the brand Next that basically stripped anyway to get Cath outside of the UK or Japan, it’s ok really, they are no longer her designs as she’s no longer with the company. Let’s remember the good times & take a page from her books.. create & make it yourself 😊.
