Here's what the spready-thingy was for.
My client wanted to change the pickups in his Godin, so to fit them I needed to hack into (and through) the braces. You know what happens when you do that!
Enter the spready-thing! Two chunks of pine with room for the braces to fit through, arched on the guitar-facing sides, with a cork buffer. Two small wedges that fit in through the f-holes were tapped into the spready-thing to do the spreading.
I made it as a prototype, but it actually fit so well that I am going with it!
Shoutout to Jay for the awesome wiring job he did! These pickups make all the sounds now!
I also pinned the bridge. π
And NOW the guitar is in the hands of its very happy, very creative, and VERY patient owner!
