Ride together, be visible, and show Edmonton that safe streets have public support. 🚲
Critical Mass is for everyone. Kids on cargo bikes, bakfiets, trailers, and their own bikes are welcome. People on e-bikes, rollerblades, scooters, skateboards, and other human-scale mobility devices are welcome too. Basically:Â anything that does not have a gas motor.
Critical Mass rides make people on bikes visible.
They remind city leaders that Edmonton needs safe, smart, and connected bike infrastructure. People are already biking. More people would bike if the streets felt safe enough for them, their kids, their friends, and their neighbours.
They show that Edmontonians are already biking, rolling, and using our streets in many different ways. They also remind city and provincial leaders that safe, smart, connected bike infrastructure is needed, used, and supported.
This summer, that message is especially important. Edmonton’s bike network still has major gaps. Too many streets still feel unsafe for people outside cars. Bike lane projects are being delayed, questioned, or cancelled. The Province is also considering rules that could block new safe infrastructure or remove parts of the bike network Edmonton already has.
So come ride with us.
Don’t forget to bring:
* Lights
* Your bell
* Water
* Weather-appropriate clothing
* Helmets for children, as required by law
This ride is hosted by YEG Bike Coalition, with support from community partners and volunteers.
