✨ Please Welcome Audrey Winters of Adornments by Audrey! ✨

Please join us in welcoming Audrey Winters of Adornments by Audrey, a new vendor to Roots & Relations: Indigenous Market on 95th! 🧡

Audrey is a proud Inuk woman from Labrador who has called Edmonton home for the past 18 years. She is a mother of seven children and also carries the memory of her late son, Paul, who is forever 18. 💛

After Paul passed, Audrey first picked up diamond dotting as a hobby. She had always admired the beautiful beaded earrings she saw other women wearing, but because she couldn’t afford them, she decided to learn how to make them herself. With determination, Audrey searched YouTube for tutorials and taught herself how to create beaded earrings.

Four years later, beading has become so much more than a craft.

Audrey says she has never found anything as beautiful, calming, and grounding as beading is to her heart and soul. What began as curiosity and a desire to create has become a source of peace, reflection, and connection. 🎀😊

At the market, you’ll find Audrey’s beautiful handmade:

✨ Beaded earrings
💎 Unique jewellery and adornments
🎁 Beautiful handmade pieces to treat yourself or someone special

We are so excited to welcome Audrey and Adornments by Audrey to the Roots & Relations family! Be sure to stop by, meet Audrey, and admire the beautiful beadwork created with heart and soul. 🧡

Bringing together Métis and Cree creativity, culture, and artistry, Kiskinwaham Co. creates handmade pieces that celebrate identity, community, and connection.

Angus Chalifoux is proudly Métis and from McLennan, Alberta. He creates vibrant beaded hoop earrings, bracelets, and small mink-fur earrings. His beadwork blends Métis traditions with his own creative style, honouring the resilience and artistry of his ancestors while expressing his voice as a Two-Spirit artist.

Emily Noskiye is from Bigstone Cree Nation and Wabasca-Desmarais. ✨ Please Welcome Ava Vanzella of Tânisi Bella - Creations! ✨

Please join us in welcoming Ava Vanzella of Tânisi Bella - Creations, a proud Métis artist from Edmonton and a new vendor at Roots & Relations: Indigenous Market on 95th! 🧡

Ava has been working to reconnect with her Métis and Cree culture over the years. Like many Indigenous families, she did not grow up closely connected to her culture, but her mother and sisters have played an important role in helping one another reconnect with their roots. Ava describes this as her season to learn more, embrace her culture, and share that connection with her relatives.

Ava came to beading during a difficult period in her life, when her sister first taught her the basics. What began as knowledge passed down from her sister has grown into something much deeper. Today, beading has become a form of medicine, meditation, processing, and reflection for Ava. She continues to learn from other Indigenous creators, both online and in person, expanding her skills and connection along the way.

The name Tânisi Bella - Creations carries special meaning. Tânisi represents Ava’s Métis/Cree heritage, while Bella honours her Italian heritage and her beloved Nona, who would always greet her with “Ciao Bella.” The name is also a tribute to the amazing matriarchs who have shaped her life.

With historical Métis lineage connected to Fort Walsh and the Red River, Ava brings both heritage and personal meaning into her creative work.

At the market, you’ll find:

✨ Beautiful beadwork
💎 Handmade jewellery
🪶 Charms
⭕ Medallions
🌸 And other unique creations

We’re excited to welcome Ava and Tânisi Bella - Creations to Roots & Relations and to give her space to share her art, her story, and her journey of reconnection with our community. 🧡

✨ Please Welcome Shelia Grossenbacher of Soul Creations! ✨

Please join us in welcoming Shelia Grossenbacher of Soul Creations, joining us from Barrhead and new to Roots & Relations: Indigenous Market on 95th! 🧡

Shelia’s Métis familial roots are in St. Albert and, more recently, Vilna. Her journey to reconnect with her heritage is a deeply personal one. She grew up believing there was no Indigenous ancestry in her family, but after learning about her Métis heritage, she felt compelled to learn more and connect with her culture.

Shelia taught herself to bead with the help of books, tutorials, and plenty of practice. After receiving her Métis card, beading quickly became a passion, and she describes the process as something she finds incredibly peaceful.

One of the meaningful elements incorporated into her work is the Soul Bead, which Shelia learned about early in her beading journey and has made a part of every piece she creates.

At the market, you’ll find:

✨ Beaded keychains
💫 Beaded wristlets
📿 Beaded lanyards
🌺 Beaded poppy pins

Each piece is made with care and reflects Shelia’s passion for learning, creating, and reconnecting with her Métis heritage.

Please join us in welcoming Krystal Rain of Lovely Sioux, a new vendor to Roots & Relations: Indigenous Market on 95th! 🧡

Krystal is from Spruce Grove, Alberta, with roots in Paul First Nation in Treaty 6 Territory.

Krystal began learning to bead and sew with the help and inspiration of her older sister, who taught her the skills and knowledge of regalia making. Her sister has been a constant source of support and inspiration, especially as Krystal’s two daughters began dancing in the Tiny Tots category. Both girls have now grown into the Teen category, and Krystal credits her sister’s commitment and dedication to helping them dance together as a family and inspiring Krystal to begin creating on her own.

Krystal’s growing collection includes:

💎 Dentalium jewellery, including earrings and necklaces
🪶 Ribbon skirts
✨ Beautiful beadwork
🐚 Unique pieces combining beadwork with dentalium

Krystal was first approached by her younger sister, who was coordinating a market at the time, and was honoured to be invited to become a vendor. Since February, she has participated in three markets and has been working hard to build her collection and grow her craft.

Now she’s excited to share her work and creativity with our Roots & Relations community!

✨ Welcome Back to Roots & Relations: Indigenous Market on 95th! ✨

Please help us welcome back Colleen Tweedle to Roots & Relations! 🧡

Colleen is a self-taught Métis artist whose family is from Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement in northern Alberta. As the oldest of seven children, Colleen and her siblings were raised in Edmonton, Alberta.

From a very young age, Colleen was inspired by her Kokum to bead, sew, and craft. By the time she reached school age, she was already highly skilled with a needle and thread, creating her own dolls and doll clothes. Creativity and craftsmanship have remained lifelong passions, with Colleen dedicating much of her life to sewing and designing her own clothing.

In 2013, Colleen discovered a passion for designing and creating a beautiful blend of traditional and contemporary jewellery and accessories. Her work reflects both creativity and culture, combining timeless artistry with her own unique style.

Colleen hopes people enjoy her creations just as much as she enjoys making them. 💛
