My first project was to tune a rare "birdcage action" upright piano. Historically, this variety of piano model was succeeded by the modern upright, as the maintenance required to tune was tedious to say the least.
I almost feel like a dentist trying to regulate the action behind the braces, which lift the dampers in a roundabout way compared to mechanisms seen today.
