Cue the happy dance 💃 I have more exciting news!

I submitted one of my pottery pieces to the Ottawa Potters Guild - Annual Juried Exhibition -- and I’m so honored to be included. Being part of a juried show like this, and shown alongside such amazing work, is incredibly meaningful to me.

A huge thank you to the Exhibitions Committee for organizing this event and to Juror Mat Karas. And thank you to everyone who came out for the opening ceremony and awards presentation earlier today.

Congratulations to all of the winners! 👏

📍 Location: Horticultural Building, Lansdowne Park
📅 May 1 to 3, 2026
🕰 Part of the Ottawa Clay Festival
🎟 Free to visit | Fully accessible

The exhibition runs until Sunday, May 3rd, and visitors can cast a vote for the People’s Choice Award, which will be announced at the end of the show.

As an artist, this is an exciting milestone. I will share the exhibition catalog as soon as it is online.

This bowl is inspired by my love for rivers and lakes. The river is never one color; it listens to the sky and the air, changing with their moods. Sunlight sparkles like diamonds on the water, and the aura of colors during a sunset lingers across its surface. Even so, I am always reminded of its quiet power and strength.

Soup mugs and heart-shaped bowls are out of the kiln! 🧡🧡🧡

Sanding the bottoms of every piece removes rough, sharp, or gritty textures caused by glaze drips or raw clay, ensuring the piece is smooth and tabletop-safe.

My husband, Jake, takes care of sanding the bottoms. It is amazing to feel the before (rough) and the after (soooo smooth). He wins employee of the month every month. 🏆

The heart-shaped 💓bowls feel so nice to hold in the hand. The plum set sold quickly, but there are 4 more available: 2 in butterscotch and 2 in sepia. Each bowl is priced at $30. Send me a message if you are interested in curbside pickup in Cornwall or shipped at an extra cost.

The soup 🍲mugs can hold 14-16 oz and are so nice to hold while enjoying soup!
There are 4 more available: 2 with stripes and 2 in turquoise. Each soup mug is priced at $35. Send me a message if you are interested in curbside pickup in Cornwall or shipped at an extra cost.

Happy Galentine’s Day! 🫶

Cue the happy dance 💃 I have news!

Earlier this month, I submitted one of my pottery pieces to the Annual Juried Art Exhibition at our local gallery—and I’m so honored to be included. Being part of a juried show like this, and shown alongside such strong work, is incredibly meaningful to me. I’m especially grateful to the jurors for the opportunity.

Huge thank you to the organizers for creating a space that supports artists and brings this work to the community. And thank you to everyone who came out for the opening reception last night.

Congratulations to all of the winners! 👏

Thanks for the photos !

Soup mugs and heart-shaped bowls are in the kiln for their first firing. 🧡🧡🧡

After making these on the pottery wheel, I let them dry for a few days. The clay must be bone-dry to avoid exploding from steam in the kiln. At this stage, the items are very fragile. 🧡🧡🧡

This first firing is called a bisque firing and is when the dry clay becomes durable. The temperature rises slowly until it reaches 1945°F, making the pot strong enough to handle, yet porous enough to absorb glaze. 🧡🧡🧡

After cooling, I will glaze the mugs and bowls and place them back into the kiln at a higher temperature of 2232°F. This causes the glaze and clay to become non-porous and food-safe. 🧡🧡🧡
