Charlottetown Farmers Market Co-operative Pausing Restoration Plans
Charlottetown, PEI–March 31, 2026
The Charlottetown Farmers’ Market Co-operative Ltd. has paused its restoration plans of its location at 100 Belvedere Avenue to better understand the status and future of the federal land on which it operates. This pause will allow the organization to engage with stakeholders and clarify land ownership, and long-term security before proceeding. This pause was initiated after consultation with the federal government and their representatives, and to better understand the path forward.
If it becomes clear that the Charlottetown Farmers Market is unable to rebuild and can not secure long-term tenancy, we are exploring the possibility of moving the farmers market to a new location. Our goals would be to have the ability to secure stable ownership or tenancy, expand, and better serve the needs of our vendors, patrons and community.
The market remains committed to its mission of a co-op market where local farmers, makers and artisans can sell their locally created goods in a community-oriented, sustainable and forward-thinking environment, for members, vendors and customers. To continue this mission into the future we see this pause as a necessary step to ensure any future development is built on a stable and well-defined foundation.
Please join us at our temporary location at 614 North River Road every Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm - your support during this challenging time is more important than ever.
