Have you seen a young juicy asparagus this big? 🤭

During COVID, I was an essential worker in the food distribution supply chain industry. While doing grocery shopping alone in late 2020, I remembered my friend said she's always wanted to have an asparagus bed. She just got a brand new garden bed, so I decided to buy a bag of asparagus seedlings for her.

She gladly let me filled her empty garden bed with coco coir, perlite, and worm p**p. We proceeded to plant the asparagus. This is year three and we can finally harvest a bountiful of asparagus... We didn't know they were going to be so monstrous though! The grilled asparagus was surprisingly not fibrous and very juicy 🤤 Can't wait to harvest more in 1-2 weeks!

🌱 Worms Update! 🪱

Last Friday, we visited our worms at Birchland Elementary School in Port Coquitlam. These little champions are playing a crucial role in composting food waste from Birchland School's breakfast program, transforming it into beautiful worm castings. We had the pleasure of meeting some of the students who are delving into the magic of worm composting! ✨📚

Currently, the compost from our diligent worms is nurturing indoor plants at the school. Soon, this nutrient-rich compost will also enrich the school veggie garden this spring! Students and teachers will turn their food waste into delightful veggies for breakfast—how amazing is that? Using worm castings in gardens or potted indoor plants provides an extra nutrient boost for larger and faster growth. Vegetables and fruits grown with worm castings tend to be not only bigger but also tastier! 🍅🫑🥕🥦🤤

A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Karen Exley for organizing this partnership with TriCity Worms, educating young minds about sustainable practices. Sustainability is the key to a greener, brighter future. 🌿☀️

Reflecting on 2023 - It has been a wild, busy year for TriCity Worms. It was exilerating to see all the interests in vermicomposting within Lower Mainland communities and across from Canada this year. 🪱

I was blessed with opportunities to connect with local communities and provide worm composting workshops in partnership with Coquitlam Farmers Market and Port Moody Farmers Market 🥰

TriCity Worms is a small e-commerce based local business that owes its success to the support of loved ones. A heartfelt thank you to my loving dad visiting from across the continents, assisting me with manual labor work and offering immense moral support from summer to fall. Special appreciation to my partner, my brothers, and close friends with their invaluable assistance behind the scene whenever possible. Last but not least, huge thank you to my mom and other TriCity Worms partner homes providing space that makes our operation possible!

Fantastic update! 🌟 After 4 months of hard work, our dedicated worms have produced an abundance of nutrient-rich castings 🪱🪱🪱. Just in time for transplanting our vibrant Thai Basil cutting! 🌿

Our preferred transplanting technique? The sandwich method: a base of coco coir/perlite mix, a generous layer of premium castings around the roots, and a final topping of coco coir/perlite mix. Your plants will thank you! 🌱
