iDesign is expanding, and we’re looking for motivated, hands-on individuals to join our growing 3D Design and Model making & fabrication studio in Thimphu.

This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy creative work, Architectural model making, traditional arts and crafts and painting.

🔹 Position: Studio Assistant
🔹 Openings: 2
🔹 Qualification: Class X or XII Passed
🔹 Experience: Painting experience will be highly preferred
🔹 Salary: Negotiable (Nu.) based on skills & experience
🔹 Bonus: Project-based performance bonus provided

Congratulations to Karma Sonam for successfully completing his internship with iDesign.

Coming from an interdisciplinary design background, Karma joined to learn and to build something meaningful. During his time with the iDesign team, he worked tirelessly to prototype and complete his innovative Chhoesham, a portable, foldable, lightweight design weighing under 5KG, specially created for people travelling abroad, especially to Australia and the USA, where luggage size and weight limitations matter.

He also had the opportunity to contribute to the historical 3D model making of the GMC Jarung Khashor Chorten and the Maitreya Lhakhang. His contribution to these landmark projects reflected his patience, dedication, and strong attention to detail.

What makes us most proud is not just the final product, but the person behind it. Throughout his internship, Karma consistently demonstrated a positive attitude, proactive mindset, willingness to learn, strong attention to detail, and an incredible sense of teamwork. He was the kind of intern who never settled for “good enough”, always pushing for perfection in every small detail.

At iDesign, we believe internships should be about creating, contributing, growing, and becoming industry-ready. Watching Karma evolve from a student into a confident young designer has been genuinely inspiring for our team.

He will now be presenting this project for his final jury, and we have no doubt he’s going to absolutely nail it.

While we’re sad to see him leave, we’re even more excited knowing this is not goodbye. We look forward to welcoming him back to iDesign soon, this time not as an intern, but as a designer. 😄
