The Economic Recovery Committee (ERC) which was commissioned by the government during this COVID-19 pandemic released yesterday (21st October 2020) its Executive Summary Report to the public. A part of its recommendations was the recognition of the importance that agriculture, fisheries, and manufacturing (all Primary Industries) play in developing and maintaining national resilience from global shocks.
⁣
We posit that the development of these sectors from a private sector standpoint (as opposed to the heavily government influenced projects of the past) have a high chance of sustainability and resilience that can directly and positively affect and influence communities and their livelihoods.
