We extend our sincerest condolences to the family, friends and the entire skating community on the passing of Michael Layne, affectionately known as “Mykey Moda.”

Mykey was one of the driving forces behind the resurgence of roller skating in Barbados in the post-COVID era. Through his brainchild, Skatelife Barbados, his contribution to the local skating movement was fueled by genuine passion, dedication and love for the culture of skating. Through his energy and presence, he helped inspire and reconnect a community both on and off the skate scenes.

His impact will not be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to roll on through the lives he touched and the movement he helped rebuild.

May his soul rest in peace and rise in glory.

Mr. John Dottin and the Hype Rollers extend heartfelt thanks to the We Gatherin Committee and everyone who helped make last Sunday’s St. Michael Skate Festival at Grazettes Hardcourt a resounding success!

The children from the surrounding communities thoroughly enjoyed an evening filled with roller skating, laughter, and pure fun. The skaters and skate groups, vendors, DJs, sound system crew, 360° video team, jumping tents, the line dancers and the wonderful people from the community all came together to create lasting memories and strengthen our community spirit.

Thank you for making it unforgettable!
