Flower of the week - Thrypotomene

I LOVE the whimsical vibe this Australian Native adds to bunches! I am SOOOOO EXCITED we are now in Australian Native filler flower time of year!

Thryptomene saxicola, commonly known as rock thryptomene, is a hardy, evergreen flowering shrub endemic to the granite outcrops of south-western Western Australia. Belonging to the myrtle family (Myrtaceae), it is highly celebrated in Australian horticulture for its cascading, weeping habit and its ability to produce masses of tiny flowers throughout the cooler months

The morning breaks,
the petals unroll,
A quiet Sunday for the soul.
No rushing hours, no tasks to weigh,
Just blooms of color to light the day.
With tea in hand and a gentle breeze,
Relaxing softly among the trees.

May your Sunday be filled with joy, relaxation and happiness!

Flower of the week- Delphinium

Delphiniums (commonly known as larkspurs) are a genus of roughly 300 species of highly prized perennial and annual flowering plants. Famous for creating towering vertical architectural accents in cottage gardens, they are widely loved for producing some of the most vibrant, true-blue flowers in the plant world, alongside shades of purple, pink, white, and red.
These add height and drama to many floral arrangements and are often used in wedding arrangements to provide a cottage garden vibe!
Have a week filled with happiness!

For those who don’t know the heart behind my journey—the idea for these workshops was born in a hospital bed while I was recovering from a serious illness. In those tough moments, this vision was one of the things that kept me going.

My goal is to create a welcoming, gentle space where absolutely everyone can relax, have fun, and experience the incredible healing power of nature. Flowers were instrumental in my own recovery, and I want to share that magic with as many people as possible. Because healing should be open to all, I intentionally design each workshop to be affordable and fully accessible to everyone.

I cant wait to share my joy with you at the next workshop! 🌸✨

Floral Arranging for a Cause: Supporting Central Queensland Animal Society Inc! 🐾

Beyond creating a safe, supportive community space at Happy Bunch, we love finding ways to give back. If you know me, you know I am a huge animal lover! Whether I am fostering pets or helping with rescue animal transport supporting local charities is incredibly close to my heart.

❤️Thanks to everyone who attended our recent Mother's Day workshops, Livingstone Shire Library Livingstone Shire Council Yeppoon Community Centre and Tanby Garden Centre - we turned creativity into community support!

We used a portion of the workshop proceeds to buy and donate a heavy-duty transport crate to the amazing team at Central Queensland Animal Society Inc (CQASI).Check out the photo below of CQASI President Brooke receiving the brand-new crate! 📸👇

Flower of the week - Corymbia Ficifolia

These flowers are one of my FAVOURITE native plants and are the inspiration for famous Australian author May Gibbs! Gum Flowers were the most famous muse for her Gumnut Babies. These vibrant, petal-less eucalyptus flowers are characterized by their explosion of colorful, delicate stamens

Corymbia ficifolia, commonly known as the Red Flowering Gum, is a spectacular, small-to-medium native Australian tree renowned for its vibrant summer floral displays. Originally endemic to a highly restricted area in the south-west of Western Australia, it has become one of the most widely cultivated ornamental eucalypts across the country. The tree was famously crowned Eucalyptus of the Year in 2024.

Flower of the Week - Asiatic Lilly

Asiatic lilies (Lilium hybrid) are popular, early-blooming perennials known for their vibrant, upward-facing flowers and ease of care. Unlike Oriental lilies, they typically have little to no fragrance, making them an excellent choice for allergy sufferers or those who prefer scentless blooms. They bloom in late spring to early summer and come in a vast range of colours, including red, orange, yellow, pink, and white.

Don't forget mum (or your special person) tomorrow! If you are buying flowers or gifts we encourage to always buy locally. It helps keep local businesses in our communities and softens our collective imprint on the planet. Often, native flowers are grown in Australia so can be a great option to additionally support locally grown produce!
We have some beautiful florists in Yeppoon and Rockhampton that create amazing arrangements which would definately make mum happy! Happy Saturday 🌻

Here at Happy Bunch we try and make sure our workshops are as sustainable as possible. When workshops are complete all off cuts and compostable material (including our biofoam) are composted to be repurposed as soil to grow some of the greenery! I LOVE the idea of recycling and repurposing to grow something that will contribute to another beautiful arrangement! Its the circle of life (insert Lion King theme song).
Have a happy rest of your week! I will be busy -head down- preparing and making beautiful arrangements for our impending Mothers Day on Sunday!
