✨🕯️ CANDLE Q&A — A LITTLE ABOUT MY CANDLES 🕯️✨
I thought I’d answer some of the questions I’m often asked about my candles, what goes into them and why I make them the way I do. 💕🌿
❓ What wax do you use?
I use soy wax. It’s a lovely soft wax, is plant-based and renewable, and holds fragrance beautifully. I love the creamy appearance and beautiful burn it gives my candles. 🕯️
❓ What about your fragrance oils?
I only use high-quality fragrance oils that are vegan-friendly and free from parabens. Fragrance is such an important part of my candles, so I’m very particular about the oils I choose. 🌸
❓ Why do you put crystals in your candles?
Because I’m a HUGE crystal lover! 💎✨
Crystals are a big part of Feather & Heart Candle Collective, and I love choosing different crystals to complement the intention and feel of each candle.
The larger crystals are yours to keep long after your candle has finished. You can add them to your crystal collection, carry them with you, place them around your home or use them when setting your intentions. 💕
❓ Do I need to remove the crystals before burning my candle?
Yes! Please remove the larger crystals before lighting your candle. 🕯️
I love to suggest holding them in your hands for a moment, setting an intention and then placing them around the base of your candle while it burns.
The tiny crystal chips embedded through the wax will naturally make their way down as the wax melts.
❓ Are your crystals good quality?
Absolutely. 💎 I source my crystals from reputable wholesalers, with crystals sourced from different parts of the world. I love crystals myself, so choosing beautiful pieces for my products is something I really enjoy.
❓ How do you choose which crystals go into each candle?
I choose crystals based on their traditional meanings, properties and the intention behind the candle. Sometimes I’m also guided intuitively towards a particular combination. ✨
❓ Are your candles handmade?
Yes! Every candle is hand-poured by me in small batches. From preparing the jars and wicks to pouring the wax, adding the crystals and finishing each candle, there are lots of little steps that go into creating each one. 💕
❓ Why might my soy candle look slightly different from another one?
Soy wax is a natural product, so sometimes you may notice little variations in appearance, such as frosting or changes to the surface after burning. These are normal characteristics of soy wax and don’t affect the beautiful fragrance or enjoyment of your candle. 🌿
❓ How should I look after my candle?
Before each burn, trim your wick to approximately 5mm. On the first burn, allow enough time for the melted wax to reach close to the edges of the jar. This helps establish a nice, even burn for the life of your candle.
And remember — never leave a burning candle unattended. 🕯️
❓ What happens to my crystals when my candle is finished?
They’re yours to keep! 💎 Clean any remaining wax from them and add them to your collection. You can continue using them for your intentions, meditation, rituals or simply enjoy having them in your space.
