Classic Stitches offer a bespoke experience for textile customers from fabric choices, design ideas and longarm quilting services. Moving away from daily retail, 2025 was a year of learning traditional techniques, working on commissions, designing patterns, machine upgrades, travel and home. Customers can visit my work space by contacting me here or through my website www.classicstitches.com.au

To all customers of Classic Stitches, this is an update to let you know that I am still receiving beautiful fabrics. Last week the long awaited, 34 piece Sacre Bleu Collection by French General for Moda Fabrics United Notions arrived.

I will be selling the entire collection in bundles of various sizes in April and May. This is a rare opportunity to have an entire range of these beautiful prints. I encourage sewing groups within The West Australian Quilters' Association Inc. and The Southern Country Quilters Association to consider this beautiful range for group projects, sewing retreats or for their private collection.

Please contact Julia on 0438 638 919 or email info@classicstitches for enquiries and orders.
Visit our website www.classicstitches.com.au to view the collection.

For French General’s latest Collection Sacre Bleu, the designers at have gone back to the early French blues as inspiration. Sacre Bleu, sacred blue or holy blue has been the  classic colour of France since the 15th century.

Many thanks to the Boddington Arts Council for organising this year's Field of Quilts. And a big thank you to friends who came to see the fine display of 125 quilts. Our mini shop had lots of new customers and familiar faces. The winner of the $1000 prize voted by the visitors was a complex, contemporary and colourful quilt, which can be seen below and on the Boddington Arts Council page.

We thoroughly enjoyed our early morning drive through misty farmland and towering trees, passing through Pinjarra and Dwellingup to arrive at our destination. I enjoyed the graphic quality of these handmade quilts hanging in the Recreation Centre with its floor markings and ceiling beams. A lovely day enjoyed by many. I look forward to seeing more quilts entered for next year's show.

Best wishes to those who have entered a quilt for this year’s Boddington Field Of Quilts 22nd of September 10am -3pm.

Boddington Arts Council has held this festival for 23 years and it is a delightful day out to view a wonderful exhibition of hand made patchwork quilts and undercover market stalls in the hall, classic cars and motorbikes and good country times in a regional centre close to many other towns.

Classic Stitches is having it’s last pop up store for the year and will have plenty of of pre-cuts from recent collections including Anna Maria Horner, Tilda, Bunny Hill, Liberty & Tula at great prices.
I will also have over 40 bolts with $10 per metre prices - all in glorious spring colours.

A great weekend was had by all who attended CraftAlive at Claremont Showgrounds last weekend. The teachers at this event included Rachelle Denenny, Helen Godden and Dianne Conroy.

This Australia wide travelling show also hosted Quiltwest 2024 - a stunning exhibition of quilts made by members of @ The West Australian Quilters' Association Inc.

Classic Stitches provided some of the prizes to the winners and place-getters. I congratulate these winners and everyone who entered in a quilt as they were all superb!

A big round of applause to the girls at The West Australian Quilters' Association Inc. for guiding each entrant, and displaying the works. There was a lot of work and effort by everyone in the committee. Please consider joining this organisation and think about entering your quilt for next year’s show. I entered a piece to go through the process and it is a buzz to see your work amongst all the other treasures on display.

Quilts, artworks and beautiful fabrics have been moved to it's temporary home.

1/18 Galbraith Loop, Erskine now looks like a recycled furniture store with lots of desks (they were all upstairs) All remaining items are for sale including a 19th century surveyor's map of King's County in Ireland, original pressed tin counter face from the Jandakot pub, tables, shop fittings and 4 shelves of fabric at $10 per bolt.
Open 11 - 3 Friday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Oh, and there will be some nicely cut up 1/2 metre pieces of the newly released Sweet Spring range by Debbie Monson for those wanting an early start with their Easter projects. This range was released in the US in December but only arrived last month to our store.

Two days ago I had a visit from one of my favourite customers who brought in her newest quilt ( half finished but looking good) made with the Nora's Garden Collection.

Faye purchased a 4 inch set of the 17 piece collection and is making two quilts for charity. I love the simplicity of her design and that she is using fabric designed by Sydney based artist, Shauna Doris which is about the beauty and delight of a childhood spend with her own mum in her garden.

What a wild and woolly day in WA.

Perfect for sitting at home working on a patchwork quilt, and watching you tube tutorials. Missouri Star posted a great Kaleidoscope tutorial and Natalie used Tula Pinks (still have some Besties left although the adorable pink rabbit sold out. I can also see the Anna Maria Horner "Our Fair Home" used for this pattern.

We are open every day until June 12th with 25% off most things(not wadding and items already reduced) The The West Australian Quilters' Association Inc. members with passports got an extra special discount when they visited our store (40%) so our beautiful fabrics are being collected by those with a keen eye.

I won't re-open until the New Year but will do a few Markets - Boddington Field of Quilts Boddington Arts Council and visits to any interested patchwork groups. Classic Stitches details will remain the same.

And remember what you make today will be treasured tomorrow.
