✂️ Horse Clipping Bookings Open ✂️

With the cooler weather arriving, we are now taking bookings for the winter clipping season.

Services available include:
• Full clips
• Partial clips
• Welfare clips
• Custom clips

Based in Tamworth NSW with travel runs available across selected areas and group bookings welcome. We will be in Dubbo, Bathurst, Newcastle and surrounding areas soon.

If your horse is getting sweaty, taking too long to dry, or becoming difficult to manage in a thick coat, feel free to send us a message to discuss options or book in 😊

A clipped tail down to the bone definitely isn’t the prettiest look, but sometimes it really is the best thing for the horse.

This tail had been rubbed so much that there wasn’t a lot of healthy hair left. What remained was thin, uneven, damaged and constantly trapping dirt and irritation against the skin underneath.

Clipping it right back gives the skin a chance to heal properly making it much easier to keep clean and treat. It also gives the tail the best chance of growing back healthier and more even over time.

Not every decision is about making things look nice in the moment, sometimes it’s about doing what will benefit the horse most in the long run.

What is the difference between welfare clips and show clips?

A welfare clip is all about comfort and practicality. It removes excess coat to help horses regulate body temperature, reduce sweating, and dry off faster after work. It’s ideal for horses in regular work or those that overheat easily, focusing on function over appearance while still keeping the horse comfortable and well-maintained.

A show clip is designed for presentation and turnout. It leaves the horse looking tidy, balanced, and suitable for competition or showing.

Welfare clip = comfort, cooling, and everyday workload management.
Show clip = appearance and presentation.

What sort of clip is right for your horse?

If your horse sweats during winter work but doesn't compete or show, a welfare clip may be the perfect option for your horse while saving you money!

If your horse requires clipping and also competes or goes out showing etc. a show clip may be the better option for your horse.

Remember clipping should always benefit your horse first so it's always important to consider their workload, lifestyle and rugging routine to determine the best clip style for your horses needs!

Clipping season is here!

As the weather cools down, many horses start growing a thick winter coat to stay warm. But for horses in work, that extra coat can quickly become a problem.

Clipping helps prevent overheating during exercise, makes it easier for horses to dry after work or rain, and allows better temperature control with rugging. It’s all about keeping them comfortable, dry, and performing at their best through winter.

Clipping needs are individual and depends on workload, management, and lifestyle.
