One of the biggest myths in music:

🎵Beginner instrument = cheapest instrument.

Not always.

A better instrument won't make you a better musician overnight, but it can make learning easier, more enjoyable, and a lot less frustrating.

Being a beginner doesn't mean you need to start with the lowest-quality option available.

We explore why in our latest blog 👇

Handmade from natural materials, each one has its own unique sound and personality. Use them in sound healing sessions, hang them around your home or garden, clip them onto a bag, or carry them as a little talisman.

Some feature gourds, symbols of good fortune and abundance. Others include peach wood, traditionally associated with protection and positive energy ✨

Tiny treasures with surprisingly big character.

How cute is this little seed pod shaker🏝️This is from our new collection of mini natural shakers. They make such soft earthy little sounds and can be used in sound healing sessions, as home decorations, bag charms, or even like a little talisman to carry around.

Also featuring the world’s smallest sound healer in the background🥹He discovered the singing bowl today, played a few notes, then walked away smiling very proudly.

Got so many enquiries about finding teachers for niche instruments like handpan, Native American flute, lyre harp, or sound healing practices, etc., so we finally made a teacher directory section on our website 🧡

We reached out to some of the most established handpan players and teachers we know in Australia, searched online for more established teachers of instruments like Native American flute, lyre harp, and other niche sound-healing instruments, and started building a collection of pages for them.

Here’s the collection link:

https://www.melodicforest.com.au/blogs/find-a-teacher-in-australia

You can find:
• in-person lessons
• online lessons
• workshops
• online courses
• performance content
• learning materials
• or book events with them

This is just what we’ve found so far — we definitely missed some people, and I’m sure there are many more amazing teachers out there we simply haven’t come across yet. So if we missed you and you’d like to be included, feel free to DM us 🙂

This section is completely free. We mainly just want to make it easier for people to find good teachers in one place.

But we do care about teachers who actually have real experience and are genuinely dedicated to the specific instrument they teach.

We’ve seen situations where very skilled general musicians or percussionists buy a handpan and immediately start offering lessons. And while they may be amazing musicians, teaching handpan properly is really its own thing. It takes time, experience, understanding student progression, technique, repertoire, learning methods, etc.

Music lessons are expensive, and students deserve teachers who are genuinely invested in the instrument itself.

So if you are a teacher in this niche space, fit the description above, and we missed you, feel free to reach out 🌿

We are waiting on a gorgeous handpan made by our local maker Ben Buckley from Byron Bay🏝️

D Kurd 9 note 432Hz
Made with Ayasa Ember shell ✨

Should be available to try and purchase from our Sydney showroom in around 2 weeks.

Here are some photos from the making process. Handpans are such delicate, time-consuming instruments to make. So much hammering, shaping, tuning, listening, adjusting… over and over again. One tiny change can completely affect the sound.

Seeing the process just makes the whole instrument even more fascinating😯🧡🎶

Not even kidding… my 20 month old actually knows how to play handpan🥹

He’s been listening to this thing since he was in my belly, so now every time I try to film, he jumps in too.

Was trying to do a simple sound test for the new upgraded 10 note YULA… but honestly his “pan-pan”is kinda the cutest part of the video 😬

20/05/2026

We did a pretty big upgrade on our YULA starter model🧡

Over the past year, we got so many people telling us they loved the sound and pricing of our $1299 YULA model… they just wished it had 10 notes instead of 9.

So we decided if we are going to upgrade it, we might as well do it properly.

The new YULA is now upgraded from stainless steel to amber steel AND from 9 notes to 10 notes.

The sound difference is honestly a pretty big step up.

It’s warmer, more resonant, more sensitive to touch, and has this very long sustain where the notes kind of melt together beautifully while still staying very clear and clean.

The colour is also super interesting. Under normal lighting it has this warm purple-brown tone, but under bright light it turns almost golden. The three photos in the product page are actually the exact same handpan, just taken in different angles.

And we decided to keep the upgraded 10 note amber steel version at the exact same price: $1299 including GST, shipping and HCT padded backpack.

We still have a few original 9 note stainless steel models left in stock, so we’ve put a $200 discount on those while they last.

So if you’ve been eyeing our YULA handpan for a while, this is probably a really good time 🧡

Or come visit our Sydney showroom and try them yourself. I sat there playing this new version for over an hour today and I’m really, really happy with this upgrade.😌

Saw a really cool handpan groove on TikTok the other day and tried playing it this morning. Did not expect my 20-month-old to immediately turn into a tiny rave goblin the second he heard it👾

FYI he‘s okay 🥹

Ever wondered why we hide our logo underneath instead of putting it on the top shell? 🧐

From a marketing perspective, it’s honestly a terrible idea🥹A big logo would make our brand way more recognisable in videos.

And I actually love our logo. I designed it myself 😭

But still… I just couldn’t do it.

The handpan already looks like an artwork on its own. The shape, the steel, the reflections… it feels almost otherworldly. Putting a logo on top just made it feel a tiny bit too commercial to me.

So we kept the top shell clean ✨

What do you think? Would you prefer a visible logo on top, or keep it minimal?
