🌊 QLD Native Foods Festival - Saltwater Dreaming you captured our hearts and spirit.

What a beautiful day of connection, collaboration and celebration on Saltwater Country at Tallebudgera.

A heartfelt thank you to Uncle Steve Cora and the Biren Cultural Group for welcoming us onto Country and sharing your stories, songs and dance. When Country is danced up, it awakens something powerful. It creates connection, brings people together and reminds us that our culture is living, breathing and strong. You could feel it right across the grounds.

A special thank you to Aunty Dale Chapman Traditional Wellbeing, My Dilly Bag, Mindy Woods and Chris Jordan for showcasing the beauty of native foods and sharing knowledge that continues to nourish and inspire.

A round of applause and big THANK YOU!! Cheryl Thompson, the visionary behind the festival, and the Independent Indigenous Tour Operators of Queensland (IITOQ) and funding bodies for bringing this vision to life and inviting Gathaa First Nations Market to be part of this inaugural event.

Saltwater Dreaming Festival is the first in a series of Native Food celebrations exploring the diverse landscapes and food stories of Queensland. With Freshwater, Desert, Island and Rainforest Dreamings still to come.

Thank you to every stallholder, performer, workshop facilitator, volunteer, chef, community member and visitor who helped bring this special gathering to life. From weaving and Jarjums activities to native food experiences, music, storytelling and cultural tours, the day was filled with moments of learning, sharing and connection. And to the deadliest GATHAA team, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes before, during and after the event.

When GATHAA Markets goes walkabout, our deadly stallholders always shine. Each of you brought your own stories, creativity and beautiful energy, helping create a wonderful atmosphere that felt welcoming, grounded and connected. We are incredibly proud of the way you represented your businesses, communities and culture.

We are grateful for you all to be walking with us, sharing stories and celebrating culture through food, story and community.
