For those that have been following my journey of the , it was a complete success. After a very long day and a half solid sewing it was completed. Well all except the buttons and button holes that is (read on I'll explain later).
I started stressing from the begining as I had to find a new pattern (1st one was way too big). The only pattern available was much more complicated than the original, but I pushed on.
Tracing the pattern and cutting took almost 3hrs. Yes I'm very slow and I had to do it twice as I decided the 1st one was still too big. (Obviously not very good at size matching lol). Everything went great day 1.
Day 2 took a turn no one wants when sewing. My machine started skipping stiches 😭. This is not what you want when under time pressures. Fixed this problem and pushed on again. . I managed to fit in making a bag for the assistant teacher before heading to a social function.
I returned to make the button holes and it wasn't just missing one which here and there it was masses of stiches which made it impossible to sew 😭😭. How was I going to finish the shirt. Hubby to the rescue with the idea to use snaps instead of buttons. So that's what we did and it was perfect.
It was finished! 🙌 myself and some other parents presented the gifts the teachers the very next morning. Both were very shocked and amazed with what had been created. The shirt was changed into and worn with pride.
