Mycena Emporium

Mycena Emporium Hi, welcome to Mycena Emporium! I am a Deaf neurodivergent artist with a slight obsession with fungi.

I hand-sculpt and paint clay mushrooms and display them in miniature versions of their natural habitats, each blade of grass lovingly placed with care. I am a thirty-something Deaf neurodivergent artist with a fascination for all things fungi, flora and fauna. A hobbit at heart, my favourite pastimes include cooking elaborate themed meals, foraging for mushrooms and going on hikes, watching wholes

ome TV series, tending to my little flock of hens, and spending a rainy day indoors snuggled up in cosy blankets with my cats, and my loveable pups, Stella and Loki. After almost two decades in the hospitality industry as a cake decorator and dabbling in various forms of sculpture, I took my cake artistry experience (and tools!) and combined them with my special interest in fungi, inspired by the beauty of nature.

Holy smokes, was Renfair amazing or what?! It was a feast for the senses 😍 and , you killed it with the planning and organisation of such a magical weekend, paying incredible attention to every tiny detail, right down to the coins! Just… incredible! Thank you so much for having me there!

Although I spent much of my time squatting in the corner of my stall, creating more stock to refill the table, I did my best to absorb as much of the magic as I could! On that note, I have nothing but love and gratitude for everyone who stood by my side the entire weekend, taking care of sales as I put together yet another pair of earrings. You guys are the best - you know who you are, and I love you all so much 💕

To all the guests who came to visit Renfair over the weekend, who stopped by my stall to say hi and showed their support, and brightened up my day with their beautiful words and outfits and everything in between, you guys rock! Thank you for being part of the magic that is Renfair 💕

Last, but not least, my dearest friend and studio neighbour - I cannot thank you enough for being the pillar of support I needed during this journey. The display you helped me prepare for this event, from the delightfully whimsical curtain right down to the candles, and all the last minute details, is so beautiful and perfect! I cannot even being to put into words how much I love and appreciate everything you did for me.

In the months leading up to the event, what could go wrong went wrong. There were days where I pulled 24-36 hours in the studio, days where I barely found the strength to lift a finger, and days where I became so overwhelmed I wanted nothing more than to go home and cuddle all of my fur babies. But I got there in the end, and I’m glad for it all! I have learned so much from Renfair being my first-ever experience with an event of this magnitude.

I received such a lovely package of whimsical goodies from the other week. You’ve spoiled me rotten with your beautiful gifts~! I absolutely love everything you sent, especially the little critter on the leaf and the mushroom bandanna! And that little wooden whistle, my gosh, how cute!

Thank you so much for adding more beauty and whimsy to my life 💕

A long overdue appreciation post for the Enchanting Realms market! Although this event took place a few weeks ago, I’ve been so distracted with preparing more stock for upcoming events that sharing my love and gratitude for Enchating Realms was delayed once again 🙈

Thank you to the organisers for preparing such a wonderful and magical event, I had so much fun being a part of the whimsy~

And thank you to everyone who came to the market and supported not just myself, but all of the incredible artists and vendors that shared their own love and magic on the day! One of my favourite parts of the day has to be the familiar faces who stopped by my stall.

Also, thank you to my amazing sister in law, Kat, for girlbossing by my side all day, we make a great team!

To all of my lovelies, I’ll see you all at the next Enchanting Realms market ~

Who else likes spiderwebs in the rain as much as I do? For many years now I’ve wanted to encapsulate the perfectly glistening webs of beauty, and after months of testing and designing, it’s done!

Each wired section was individually beaded with premium-quality Japanese glass beads, linked together into a sparkling web. What’s special about these bead is that they’re made with a pearlescent coating that catches the light in an ethereal glow.

I’m thrilled with how these polymer clay clover flowers have turned out! These required so much time and attention to make, but oh gosh the results are so worth it! In fact, all the flowers you see in this photo took two days to make, and that’s all I’ll be preparing for now.

I’m turning these into hair sticks and other accessories, which will be joining me at in two weeks!

Happy birthday to one of the most inspirational and resilient humans in my life!

Today is my mum’s 65th birthday, and for her gift this year I wanted to make her something special. For my first foray into sterling silver clay, I created this edelweiss pendant, a flower that is deeply sentimental to my mum and her late father.

Nonno emigrated from his little village in Rotzo, Italy, to Australia to begin a new life, bringing with him a small reminder of home. He had plucked a sprig of edelweiss from the mountains near Rotzo, after he returned home from being a prisoner of WW2.

That little sprig of edelweiss is displayed at my family home, kept in a little wooden photo frame as a daily reminder of Nonno.

I hope that this necklace makes her feel just as connected to Nonno.
