I’ve shared a lot of content on building up my self-worth + releasing my need for external validation recently, and I wanted to share the process I go through with my 1:1 clients, so that you know exactly what to expect from working with me 🙏

Note: the order may shift, depending on where you are when we start, but this is broadly what our work together looks like:

✅ STOP THE BEHAVIOUR We press pause on your external validation behaviour. Not forever, not all at once - but we start to notice it, name it, and interrupt the pattern.

✅ GET REAL We take a look at all of the people, places, and online spaces where you’re regularly seeking and receiving validation. A lot of clients find this fun once they get into it! 😅

✅ CHILDHOOD PRAISE Were you praised for good behaviour and putting others first? For achievements, grades, winning, performing? What you were praised for tells us a lot about where you’re still seeking approval as an adult.

✅ SELF-VALIDATION This looks different for everyone, and that’s the point. For some people it’s a growth list. For others it’s a simple phrase we uncover together - something that begins to remind you of your own value. I noticed early on in my own journey that “I am worthy” didn’t land for me at all, but “I am unique” did. We find your version of that together.

✅ WHAT’S MISSING? This is where it gets interesting. We explore what experiences, emotions, or creative outlets were missing in your childhood - and we look at how to fill those gaps. For me, that looked like taking up burlesque and getting back into sewing. Both have given me more genuine pride, growth, and comfort zone stretching than almost anything else in my adult life.

✅ SELF-TRUST We look at who you currently turn to when you have a decision to make, and we start to gently bring that authority back to you. One of the questions I constantly come back to in my own life, and with my clients is simply: “What’s one thing I can do right now that will move me forwards?” It sounds small. It isn’t.

✅ ONGOING SUPPORT One thing that was missing on my own journey was having someone in my corner between the big moments which is why...

To gallop or not to gallop? 🏇 😂

Can’t help but think this was a bit of a missed opportunity to teach us self-validation. Who knows? 🤷‍♀️

Yesterday I shared the ways I used my business to seek approval, today, I’m sharing something a little more uncomfortable...

The ways I used my business to avoid criticism 😫

Because low self-worth doesn’t just make you crave praise.

It can make you fear judgement too.

DM me the word VALIDATE to find out more bout my “Validate Yourself” mentoring ⬆️

Please now, you can reach a point where criticism feels ok. Trust me, I know 👍🏻

For years, I thought I was gathering feedback in my business. Looking back, I was basically gathering validation 🔂

The obvious ones were:

✅ Asking clients for feedback after classes
✅ Encouraging newsletter readers to hit reply
✅ Asking podcast listeners to leave reviews

But, realistically, a deeper list included these behaviours:

💔 Checking open rates and engagement a little too often
💔 Feeling hurt when someone left my classes
💔 Taking cancellations a little too personally
💔 Wondering what I’d done wrong when a client disappeared
💔 Taking silence personally
💔 Feeling disproportionately good when someone praised my work
💔 Wanting reassurance that I was doing a good job

None of these things are inherently bad.

The difference is WHY I was doing them.

At the time I ran my fitness business, I wasn’t just looking for information, I was often looking for proof that I was valued 🤗

Tomorrow, I’ll be sharing the other side of this:

⭐⭐⭐ The ways I used my business to avoid criticism ⭐⭐⭐

Because low self-worth doesn’t just make you seek approval...

It can make you fear disapproval too.

Keep your eyes peeled for tomorrow’s post 👀

Thanks for reading.

Yours in self-worth,

Claire xx

I almost didn’t post this but here’s the thing about vulnerability - sitting on it doesn’t make it easier 😅

Most people who struggle with external validation were praised for their achievements as a child 🥇

That’s not my story 👎🏻 ❌

I was the top student in my class at college. And I was completely uncomfortable about it 😫

This reel is about my complicated relationship with success, why it felt like rejection, and the shadow work I had to do to untangle it 👩‍🎓

If any of this resonates, drop a comment below — I’d love to know I’m not alone in this one ⬇️

Went to my mum’s local Community Centre yesterday and sewed a “Boomerang Bag” on the sewing machine. It was so fun! 🤩

The bags cost $2 for customers to buy, and the sewing group get to choose which charity they donate the monies to (the last $1,000 went to buy extra breast pumps for the neonatal unit at the local hospital) 🥹

All of the fabric is donated for free; there’s hardly any waste; and the bags are made by volunteers who range from complete beginners to experienced tailors! 🪡

It was really lovely to be a part of the group all working towards a common goal together, and I left feeling warm and fuzzy after being able to put my skills from a hobby to use, for something really charitable 🧵
