The Choices story began in 1993 when Newfurn Limited, a co-operative group of independent furniture retailers established in 1959, first launched the brand. From an initial 17 stores in Victoria the brand has grown to being a major force in Australian retail today. Since those early days, Newfurn has evolved to be arguably Australia’s most progressive retail floor coverings Group. To change their

name to Choices, to extend the range with more products, colours, textures and styles to provide customers with more opportunities
to find the floor they’d been searching for. At Choices we’re proud to say that we really know our stuff. Our Members combine extensive product knowledge with years of practical experience to help you find that perfect floor. But while they receive thorough training in all aspects of our products, customer service, colour, decorating and design, they also understand that floor coverings help create the mood and style of your home. So, when you visit a Choices store, we promise you an enjoyable experience plus all the help you need to make the right choice for your home. Our Page House rules:

The Chillingworth Training Institute (CTI) is pleased to announce that Jesse Harfield from Choices Flooring Goulburn (NSW) and Kori (George) Matthews-Blair from Choices Flooring Dubbo (NSW) have gained their Certificate III in Flooring Technology. Both have successfully completed their apprenticeships through the CTI to become qualified flooring installers. 🎓

Throughout their apprenticeships, both Jesse and George demonstrated dedication, commitment, and a willingness to continually develop their skills and knowledge within the flooring industry.

Well done to Jesse and George and the entire Choices Flooring Goulburn and Dubbo teams on this outstanding accomplishment. And remember, if you're considering becoming a quality flooring expert, the CTI is where it starts.

We were honoured to hear from Craig Foster AM, former Socceroo captain, award-winning broadcaster with SBS Sport and 2023 NSW Australian of the Year.

Craig spoke about the power of sport to create meaningful change, sharing his perspective on equality, women in sport, human rights and the responsibility we all have to stand up for others when it matters most. It is rare at Choices Flooring that we induct a Hall of Fame recipient. Only a handful of names sit within the Choices Flooring Hall of Fame, including Jack Swinton, Martin Lambert, Bill Aggenbach and Shane Chillingworth.

At the 2026 Choices Flooring General Excellence in Marketing and Sales (GEMS), we were honoured to welcome two more.

Kevin Bell from Choices Flooring Fyshwick (ACT) and Gerd Hoppe from Choices Flooring Kingston (TAS).

Two industry figures whose decades of contribution have helped shape the Choices Flooring network into what it is today.

Melbourne 2026 – From Clicks to Connections

During the breaks in the Alliance Partner Hall at this year’s Choices Flooring Australasian Conference, the Chillingworth Training Institute held a State vs State Installation Competition.

The competition brought together some of the best second- to third-year apprentices from across Australia, selected by CTI Trainers to represent their state and compete for the Martin Lambert Australasian Apprentice of the Year Award.

This year’s state winners were Chance Riggs from Choices Flooring Atherton (QLD), Jackson Riggall from Choices Flooring Armidale (NSW), Bradley Rogerson from Choices Flooring Shepparton & Luxaflex Blinds (VIC), Ethan Bryan from Choices Flooring Hobart (TAS) and Noah Marczak from Choices Flooring Keswick (SA).

Throughout the day, the apprentices completed two installation challenges: a Polyflor Australia commercial vinyl installation and a Godfrey Hirst twist-pile installation.

Choices Flooring delegates had the chance to watch the apprentices at work, while the Chillingworth Training Institute judging panel closely assessed their skills, attention to detail and overall craftsmanship.

At the Choices Flooring General Excellence in Sales and Marketing (GEMS) Gala Dinner, Jackson Riggall from Choices Flooring Armidale – NSW was announced as the winner, taking home the $2,500 prize and the Martin Lambert Apprentice of the Year Award.
