Chara Craft and Yarn

Chara Craft and Yarn Hand dyed yarn -by Naomi
Creating colourful yarn for yarn lovers. Custom orders for Handmade items Crochet and Knitting. Why Chara?

I have always been a crafty kind of person, but never really found 'my thing' until in late 2011, I was unable to drive or look after my newborn due to chronic back pain, my mother took leave from her job and came and looked after our family 3. Not being able to do much at all except lie down I asked my mum to teach me to crochet, from their I became totally 'hooked' making things for family and

friends. I discovered a whole new world of colour when I came across
hand-dyed yarns through a friends link on FB. In the beginning of 2013 I started to dye my own yarns. I had been reading lots of blogs, watching youtube clips, speaking with other hand-dyers and then starting to begin dyeing my own yarns. I do it mainly for fun as a creative outlet. As I was enjoying what I was doing I started to share it on FB after a while I realised I probably should have a page that was dedicated just for my crochet and my dyes, so that I didn't fill up friends newsfeeds with stuff they weren't interested in...so Chara Craft and Yarn was created. Chara means Joy in Greek, Joy is what I feel when I am working on a new project or playing in the dye pots.

Happy New Year everyone. Hope that 2017 will bring you time for creating gorgeous things that you love, I certainly plan to share more of my crafting with you all and would love to see what you are up to. I decided to take my blanket wip along with me on our little vacay after Christmas to work on and oh boy not sure what had happened while it sat unworked but it smelt bad....so returning home I decided to wind into hanks all the balls and wash them along with the blanket I was in a rush as it was a fantastic drying day and didn't secure then we'll enough and well a picture says a 1000 words and one would be whoops so an untangling kind of couple of days. At least it doesn't smell any more. :-/

My favourite blanket designer Susan Carlson of Felted Button recently posted a link to an older blog on 2 other ways to start your row or round. This has totally changed the look of my crochet work.Check it out here: http://www.feltedbutton.com/2014/09/mind-gap-avoiding-turning-chain-hole.html
