It has taken a lot of time to get over my perfectionism.

I remember when I first started making jewellery in 2017, I wanted to be good instantly. I created a pendant that didn’t end up exactly how I imagined it. Every time I looked at it I was filled with shame.

However, one of my best friends from England, Becki, fell in love with it and purchased it from me. When I asked her why she liked it she said it was ‘beautiful', 'imperfectly perfect' and just as nature intended it to be. And that has stuck with me ever since.

Because nature isn't perfect, yet somehow it still is. And when it comes to creativity, something imperfect means a human made it. My hands literally shaped it. And no machine, factory or fast fashion brand can replicate that. Quite often now the little wonk or unplanned mark is my favourite part of my creation, giving character to the piece.

Every piece that leaves this studio is one of one. Not because I planned it that way. Because that's just what happens when you create something by hand.
