Inspired by medieval relics often found in monasteries, “Devil in a Cabinet” reimagines an ancient custom for the modern q***r home. Historically, these cabinets held demonic figures allowing the faithful monks to spit or scratch the devil, externalising their struggles with sin.

This piece transforms that tradition, making the devil a scapegoat for oppressive societal norms and evil gay thoughts. The cabinet becomes an essential design element in any q***r person’s home, offering a safe space to confront internalised guilt and overly-horny ideas.

after the cops break up the rave you and your friends stumble back to some scummy northside victorian-era home followed by a pack of stragglers that have somehow globbed on after they heard the words ‘kick’ and ‘on’… as the sun starts to rise you and your new acquaintances form a puddle on the floor, cuddling and very rarely speaking… someone’s playing music and sometimes you try to get up to have a boogie… one by one people start to drop off… until there is one… the queen of the couch… the cookest c*nt at the kick-on…

once they call last drinks at THAT Pub, you and your mates start to make the journey to the yarra for the rave. someone suggests catching an uber but with the impending euro summer everyone agrees it would be better to save money and get the tram… so you jump on the 86 at Demon Hour… a mix of inebriated punters on their way to the next thing… and poor tired workers just trying to get home… someone’s smoking a ciggy up the back and someone else is swinging upside down on the railing… everyone is cracking open drinks and no one has touched on… all aboard!

after you and your girlfriends have spoken about everyone you know, cried, screamed at each other, hugged and cried again it’s time to stroll down to THAT pub… the one that’s literally 3 doors down from you… it has sticky floors and the beers are kinda expensive but where else are you gonna listen to obscure grunge-folk and bump into every other northside steezinator hmm?

This piece is actually a functional fountain. With water flowing from the mouth into the pub and back again. A play on the concept of the neighbourhood ‘watering hole’.

so it’s friday night, my bestie’s birthday, and there’s a park rave somewhere along the yarra. i was supposed to meet up with the gals at 8 pm for pre-drinks, but it’s already 8:45 and i’ve just woken up from a nap… i’m late as f*ck and i need a hot outfit in case i run into that guy from my gym that sorta smiled at me today.. am i gonna wear my army green cargo pants or my 3/4 denim shorts? my smelly old asics or brown merrells? my distressed bleached hat or diamonte encrusted trucker cap? my speedy lil bumbag or politically-charged tote? where are all my socks and un**es? and where the f*ck is that mesh singlet? or my crop top that says ‘ketamine’ on it?!!!! ok i swear i saw my oversized hoodie with embroidered sparkly cursive writing on it somewhere !!!!!!? oh S**T ! everything is in the wash… i’ve got nothing to wear!

‘A Night Out in Naarm’

A Night Out in Naarm takes you on a journey through the vibrant and diverse nightlife of Naarm/Melbourne. Ceramic artist Raphy depicts scenes from a silly night out through a series of six sculptural pieces. Filled with nuance and references to Naarm’s q***r community, A Night Out in Naarm is a humorous celebration of the city’s party culture.

The installation moves through the different stages of a night out. Each piece is a combination of painted scenes and sculpted embellishments. The night begins with the disorderly chaos of picking out the perfect outfit, then moves to pre-drinks, then to the first bar, a drunken tram ride, the park rave, and finally, finishing with kick-ons!

This is my first time exhibiting at CRAFT Victoria and I’m so excited to show you what I’ve made 🥹

What Chlamydia Feels Like (2021)

A sculptural vessel I made last year. I was trying to throw a large vase but ended up with this ph***ic looking thing instead. I decided to glaze using colours that would represent the pain of having chlamydia (ouch)

When I took it out of the kiln I was immediately inspired and knew that this subject could be expanded to go further than just colour alone.

My upcoming show, Sti’s I’ve Had: A Ceramic Journey To Q***r Sexual Health endeavours to use form, colour, humour and storytelling to demystify the taboo and celebrate a part of life that is often shrouded in shame.

I’m really excited to announce I’m having a solo exhibition with in a couple of weeks!

I’ve made a series of sculptures that reflects some of the anxiety I’ve had around accessing sexual health over the years.

It’s gonna be a totally surreal conceptualisation of a complex, unspoken and often stigmatised part of life.

I really hope to see you there ❤️‍🔥
