Soooo……good news from the trail crew. Return to Sender has had some love and is in mint condition to be reopened to riders from TOMORROW, Thursday 1 December. What a way to kick start the silly season 🎅🏼
Now that RTS is open, the Trail Crew will be setting their sights on maintenance of Upper Air-Ya-Garn after the recent floods. So heads up that Upper AYG will be closed from next Monday, 5 December to Friday 9 December for the Crew to work their magic ready for the summer onslaught 🤜🏻🤛🏻

Today are the types of days I dreamt of owning a business for. Wayne is finally back on the road bike packing after a solid week and a half of waiting for a replacement wheel, we helped Wayne continue his amazing ride by helping him out with a spare bike for a week while evolution went to work on hunting him down a wheel , he returned the favour off his own back by sweeping our floors and washing our bikes, numerous times we told him it’s not needed how ever he continued.. mate it’s people like you that make derby and the bike community so good to be apart of. thank you for all you did and safe and happy travels for the rest of the holiday! We Can’t wait to meet you again for a beer and hear about the rest of the trip, if you see him out and about say gday you won’t meet a nicer bloke!

Rolling trail openings......the Trail Crew have managed to assess the network and will be opening trails gradually this week after maintenance required has been completed - so keep an eye out each day for updates.
The good news - the following trails are now open for riding

👉 Lake Derby (south side only)**
**the north side of the Lake Derby trail remains closed for a few more days
Good news......some trails will be open for riding from tomorrow!
Our Trail Maintenance Crews have reviewed the network and have advised that the following trails will be open from Saturday:
👉 Roxanne
👉 Return to Sender
👉 Snig Track
👉 Kingswall (Upper and Lower)
👉 Kumma-Gutza
👉 Atlas (exiting via Howler-Sawtooth-Access Road)
All other trails, including Air-Ya-Garn (Upper and Lower) remain closed with high water flows and unpredictable surface conditions too risky for riders at this stage.

The past year has been very challenging for the bicycle industry, and with the global supply chain issues set to continue for some time yet, new bike stock remains in limited supply.
We ordered several Kona Process models in early 2021 for delivery later in the Spring. Sadly, these bikes never arrived. But, finally some good news!

Our legal action on the unlawful logging of two Krushka's forests is a landmark test case for all native forest logging in Tasmania that has been overseen by the government for decades. Our case will expose the systemic rot that has allowed the logging of our Gondwana forests and threatened species habitat, all subsidised by the taxpayer.

Reposted from Blue Derby Wild] Breaking news, the Supreme Court of Tasmania has issued an injunction on logging and all forestry operations in Krushka's forests.
This is a first in Tasmania for a court to issue an order to halt an active native forest logging operation.
All logging, machinery and log truck activities must halted as of today till the case comes before the court at a date to be decided
Now that the 2021-22 season is drawing to a close, we’re reviewing the season from an operational stand point and implementing some changes to improve the customer experience.
Some of our current initiatives that we’ll roll over into the 2022-23 season include;
• Half-day bike hire – rent a bike for 4-hours from 08:30 or 12:30 at a reduced rate.
• Early pick up* – customers can request an early pick up (08:00) to ensure they make their shuttle uplift on time.
• Hire bikes will continue to be supplied with flat pedals, water bottle cage, spare tube, tool kit, & a Fox helmet is included also. We do not supply SPD’s but are happy to fit yours.
• Full-face helmet* – upgrade to a Fox full-face helmet for added protection.
• Tour guide* - book one of our accredited tour guides and really make the most of your Blue Derby experience.
* Additional charge applies.
Big Mountain is moving to a paperless waiver system. In addition to booking your bike hire online, you can now also sign our e-waiver online. In addition to saving paper, this has the added benefit of saving you time when picking up your hire bikes.
Please Note: Just like you do when picking up a hire car, you will still need to provide your drivers license and a valid credit card (for the security deposit).
In addition to bike hire, we can also hire you a purpose built 12-bike MTB trailer for safely transporting your crew's bikes during your stay in Derby.
And, we have a Shingleback 5-bike MTB rack available for self-shuttles.
