These gorgeous old Yogya teaspoons from Indonesia date back to the 1950s and there was NO WAY I was letting any of them go to waste ❤️

A bit of cutting and fiddling and two old spoons became something completely different.

The bowls became one pair of earrings, while those stunning dancing figures from the tops become another.

Taking something old that’s already lived a whole life and giving it another one.

Mass made can be pretty, but sometimes it just doesn’t have much to say.

The pieces that stop you in your tracks usually come with a story already attached. They were once part of someone’s table, someone’s celebration, someone’s everyday life.

Maybe that’s why they feel different.

They’re an instant “YEP” that’s mine.

Those are usually the ones you never regret bringing home.

I know turning old silverware into jewellery isn’t everyone’s thing.

But I love the idea that something can have one purpose for decades and then become something completely different.

Now ready for a new chapter as a bracelet ❤️

Maybe that’s why I love making these pieces.
