The story behind this little piece stopped me for a moment. It made me take a deep breath and think back to the reasons about why I got into papercrafting in the first place.
You might think it was all about the clever products and tools. Well, that was part of it, but not the whole story.
At the time I started stamping, I was going through some traumatic times in my life. Everything seemed too serious. My focus was not the same. I was distracted by many thoughts and troubles. It was hard to settle down to read anything or even to follow the plot of a movie.
I finally decided to look for something to help me feel centred and to find some peace, to calm the restless feelings.
That something was paper, ink and stamps.
I didn't have to be an artist to stamp something beautiful. The art work was already there.
I didn't have to follow a plot, just to decide on a single colour to pick up and to start using it.
It didn't matter how my project turned out. No one's future hinged on it.
But crafting sure did change me. It brought me peace and focus without demands. It was highly personal, calming and somehow good for me.
It's why I kept going back to my stamps, ink and paper, till I developed a deep love of this surpringly satisfying hobby.
It was somewhere down the road, after balance had been restored, that I wanted to share crafting with you.
I'm curious. What are the reasons under your love of crafting? Why do you craft? I'm sure all our stories are different. Tell me yours
