Ever thought you'd like a bee hive? We need more bees now.

"I think that we're facing a slow-moving food crisis and no-one is aware that it's coming." said Mr McDonald from Victoria.

A new report warns of a massive pollination shortfall in Australia this year as varroa mite wipes out hives and forces beekeepers out.

The brown recluse spider is often cited as one of the more dangerous spiders and one whose bite can cause skin necrotism.

However, recent research suggests that only 10% of bites result in skin necrosis and indeed brown recluse spiders are generally very reluctant to bite.

Brown recluse spiders have not been confirmed as present in Australia. However, there are a number of recluse spiders, some of which have been introduced into Australia, although numbers appear to be low. The Mediterranean recluse spider is known to be present in Adelaide.

Learn more:

A new study shows brown recluse spiders and relatives are in fact scarce, reluctant to bite, and mostly unlikely to cause the severe harm often attributed to them.
