One minifig to rule them all?
A man found an unreleased Peter Jackson LEGO and sold it for $38,028 🤯
In 2012, LEGO quietly produced just twenty Peter Jackson minifigures as a gift for the director during meetings around The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
They were never sold to the public, never meant for collectors, and most fans didn’t even know they existed. Years later, ex-LEGO designer Marcos Bessa stumbled on one in his personal stash while cleaning out old materials. He put it up for a private Instagram auction, where it drew frenzied bids before finally selling for $38,028.
The buyer was super-collector Samuel Burkhardt, who owns one of the wildest promo-only lineups in the game - including Toy Fair exclusives, charity one-offs, and prototypes that almost never leave Billund.
