Hey all,

Yesterday i took a good mate and my dad in the big boat off st kilda again. Fished around north haven and outer harbor.

Got enough crabs needed for a few feeds, didn’t need to catch our limit of 30.
Biggest crab was 68cm across claw tips.

The whiting are very hard work but we managed 2 nice fish.
Found the salmon school again but only got 2 hookups, landing 1/2.
Found a nice school of slimy mackerel and caught about 22 for bait.

The Zwartzys Circle hook whiting rig proving to be the catcher again.
For the mackerel we took the sinkers off the whiting rig and floated little baits in front of the fish.

Hey all,

Bit of a late post but yesterday I ventured out off outer harbor with a mate and his son.

Couldn’t find a whiting all day and was very hard work.
However, we did manage to get our bag limit of nice size crabs and found a huge salmon school, catching 18 big ones.

Managed a good feed for a couple families, and a great day out.

Good evening all,

Today I took the boat out with a good mate, launching from St Kilda.
The intentions were to catch a feed of crabs and whiting and we did just that.

We got our bag limit of 20 crabs, and managed 3 nice size whiting, catching a few undersize fish aswell.
All species caught today were:
Trevally, Leatherjacket, Snapper, Mackerel, Pufferfish, Blue Crabs, Whiting

It’s good to see so much life around, recovering from the effects of the algae bloom.

We threw back many legal crabs because we were catching bigger ones, and the reduced bag limits of 10/person.

The whiting were hard to find today but managed a few for a feed.
The Zwartzys 1/0 Circle Hook Whiting rig was the star of the show today, catching all the whiting!!

Best of luck to all those heading out soon. There are plenty of big crabs in local Adelaide waters to catch, and they are full of meat!!

Hey all,

Fished Port Victoria yesterday, 45 degrees!!!
It wasn’t too bad on the water with the sea breeze.

The fishing was slow but we found the whiting in the arvo, with a few fish over 40cm
We were plagued by snapper all day, managed a few other species aswell.

Flat calm all day, hot weather, good fishing.

Hey all,

Took my missus out in the boat yesterday from st kilda.
Launched at 6am and came back in at 12pm, good 6 hours on the water.
Forecast was 19km/h winds and a big outgoing tide. Well the weatherman got it wrong, with 35km/h winds and big swell.

But that didn’t stop us, issy managed to catch her first ever whiting, 4 in total.
Together we got 5 whiting and 4 tommies. Not a bad day out.
The fishing off st kilda/outer harbor is still going well with a few more species around (tommies, salmon trout) since the algae bloom.

Here at Zwartzys Rigs I try to be as sustainable as I possible can.

Most noticeable is the paper toppers for the rigs to be hung up.

Behind the scenes I collect and recycle all my old fishing line, including rig offcuts, old knots, old braid and leader.

I also collect all old sinkers and lead to go to my sinker supplier, who melts them down, removes the scrap, and makes them into top quality sinkers.

If you want to get rid of any sinkers I’ll happily collect them to be recycled.
The old line goes into the line recycling bin at spot on tackle Salisbury, Support local!!!

Hey all,

Merry Christmas and happy new year to all!!

Recent customer Thomas had a good day out yesterday with family, getting their boat limit of whiting, plus some tommies out off Corny Point.

There are plenty of whiting in the Spencer Gulf at the moment.
Hot spots being Port Victoria and Port Hughes, but these fish are everywhere.

Great news!!!

Garfish in the Spencer Gulf back to 30pp
Blue crabs in the Spencer Gulf back to 20pp

Tuna, kingfish and salmon also back to normal limits in the Spencer Gulf

Just need the whiting bag limits re opened to 10pp again!

Get amongst the fishing.
Garfish seem to be in big numbers and big sizes, as well as plenty of whiting!!

Bag limits returned on Tuna, kingfish, salmon, SG garfish, SG blue crabs and more in time for summer.

Following close work between The state government- Premier Peter Malinauskas and Minister Clare Scriven announced a return to pre-algae bag limits for a range of priority recreational species.

This is a great result for recreational fishers, with science backing this change.

Fishing comps in particular can now occur without changes to rules and traditional processes.
