If you buy a litre of bottled water every day this year, it will cost you over A$1,000. If you get the same amount of water out of your tap, it will cost you less than a dollar. Less than one Australian dollar for the entire year. Using a refillable water bottle is probably the easiest $1,000 you'll save this year!

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) found that in 2019, only 9.4% of the plastic we used in Australia was recycled (https://www.wwf.org.au/news/blogs/the-state-of-australias-recycling-how-did-we-get-into-this-mess .l9vcjd). While governments are working to improve this situation, the economics of recycling mean that plenty of our plastics aren't recycled, even if you separate them into your recycling bin. The best way of keeping plastic out of landfills and our oceans is simply to avoid using plastic where you can help it. The University of Wollongong estimates that 373 million plastic water bottles end up as waste each year in Australia (https://www.uow.edu.au/about/services/environment/campaigns-and-initiatives/water-bottle-refill/ #:~:text=Australia%20recycles%20only%2036%25%20of,up%20as%20waste%20each%20year.) Instead of adding to that incredible number, fill your reusable bottle every day, and do your part to clean up our home!
