I made this sweet laundry book for a children’s activity corner for a kid friendly adult special event. This book is great for fine motor practice, as pinching the clothes into the clothespins is hard work for small hands. Clothes can be put into the washing machine, clipped onto the lines to dry, and then brought to the other side for shape and color matching play. Items tuck into the laundry basket when play is finished. This book can be customized to match a child’s favorite shirt or items of clothing. @ The Laundry

This special book has been a work in progress for several years. I’d pick it up, make small progress, then put it away when the really challenging parts were on the docket. All of those little critters were a challenge. I like my pieces to have a nice front AND back, and creating pieces with tiny parts that look great from all sides is difficult. Sometimes, it’s best to walk away and just think about the logistics and how to piece things together, and once I’ve thought long enough about how to do it, the creating becomes much easier. This is inspired by a fantastic kids book called Bean Thirteen, and introduces some early math skills, as the bugs can’t figure out how to divide thirteen beans evenly.

This lightweight, portable, engaging, two sided felt quiet book measures 9“ x 9“. On one side there is a nesting mother hen, who lifts up to reveal three eggs that snap on with removable chicks inside the eggs. On the other side there are snap on color coordinated shapes to remove and replace. This quiet book page fits easily into a purse or a backpack, is ultra light, and a great grab and go option for screen free playing.
