In retail, trust is the sum of every interaction. Not only when things go right, but in how they are handled when they don’t.

Across the UAE and the wider region, customers are increasingly digital-first — moving fluidly between physical and digital channels with rising expectations and holding their retail experiences to an increasingly high standard.
Every interaction is expected to be simple, reliable, and consistent, shaping how customer experience in retail must evolve.

Majid Al Futtaim's new white paper with Visa explores what it takes to embed trust consistently across the modern retail journey, and why it has become the foundation for sustainable success.

The report introduces the Trust Loop, a framework spanning three critical stages of the customer experience: relevance, authorisation, and resolution. Drawing on insights from our ecosystem alongside Visa’s global payments intelligence, the report outlines key priorities for retail and payments leaders today and in the years ahead.

AI is redefining leadership. It’s no longer just a catalyst for efficiency; it is reshaping the very quality of decisions. Data, algorithms, and AI systems have become strategic forms of capital, demanding the same discipline, governance, and executive ownership as financial and human capital.

This was the lens of a recent conversation between Ahmed Galal Ismail and Naim Yazbeck, President of Microsoft MEA, as part of Microsoft’s AI Frontier Conversations series. Together, they explored how this new era requires leaders to rethink how organisations create value, how decisions are made, and what it means to lead through transformation rather than simply manage it.

For Majid Al Futtaim, this shift is already underway. As a business trusted to create great moments for everyone, every day, across destinations, retail, and communities that serve millions; AI is accelerating how our ecosystem innovates, operates, and delivers impact at scale.

The future belongs to organisations that treat AI as a leadership imperative, not a technology project.

At Majid Al Futtaim, we approach the built environment as a living system, one that continuously adapts to the needs of the people who inhabit it, where technology and placemaking work together to enhance everyday experience.

With UAE residents spending approximately 95% of their time indoors, the environments we create have a direct impact on wellbeing, productivity and quality of life in our communities. The Dubai PropTech 2033 report, developed by DIFC Innovation Hub and Dubai PropTech Hub, estimates up to AED 53 billion in annual productivity gains through more intelligent building design and operation, validating an approach already embedded across our developments.

Contributing to the report, Ahmed El Shamy, CEO, Majid Al Futtaim Development, outlines how smart technologies and human-centred design are shaping the destinations we create, ones that respond, adapt and evolve alongside the communities they serve.

Next week marks the much anticipated opening of Primark at City Centre Mirdif. This launch reflects a significant expansion of our strategic partnership with Alshaya Group, and one that continues to grow in scale and ambition. Extending that reach further across the region, two more stores at Mall of the Emirates and City Centre Bahrain will follow later this year.

For more than thirty years, our destinations have been defined by the calibre of the brands and experiences within them, shaped by an ongoing commitment to evolving alongside the communities we serve, and underpinned by partnerships that bring the world's most sought-after brands to our customers. Through consistent delivery, we continue to raise the bar for what a world-class destination can look and feel like in the Middle East.

The UAE was founded on the belief that when you create the right conditions, people will build. At the heart of that belief are the homegrown businesses, makers, and entrepreneurs who give our communities their character, energy, and soul. At a challenging moment for businesses across the region, we asked ourselves what it truly means to show up for them.

And so, together with Dubai SME by the Dubai Department for Economy & Tourism we are committed to ensuring our great local stories are told. Ma’an by Majid Al Futtaim will see us opening our ecosystem to UAE entrepreneurs, offering direct space for free in some of the region’s most powerful consumer experiences. From physical assets that include Mall of the Emirates and THAT Concept Store to VOX Cinemas, Carrefour, and more, and a digital ecosystem that includes our unrivalled loyalty programme, SHARE, selected brands will have the opportunity to showcase their products where millions of visitors chose to shop, dine, and spend their time.

Khalifa Bin Braik, CEO, Majid Al Futtaim Asset Management, joined Virgin Radio to share how our malls are supporting the everyday rhythms of life during a challenging period for the region. Our teams continue to work closely with local authorities to ensure our malls remain safe, welcoming places people can visit with confidence. That confidence is evident in the 6.5 million visitors we have welcomed since the start of Ramadan and a return to familiar seasonal footfall patterns.

For more than 30 years, Majid Al Futtaim’s destinations have anchored the cities they serve. Designed to adapt and evolve alongside those who visit them, they offer spaces where people come together to share traditions and continue the routines that bring comfort and connection. That resilience, built over decades, allows us to continue serving our communities when it matters most.

This week at Mall of the Emirates, colleagues came together for iftar with the many people whose work helps keep the mall running every day. Hundreds gathered to break bread, share a meal, and spend time together beyond the pace of the day.

It was a meaningful moment to appreciate and thank the community that supports our spaces daily, and to recognise the important role they play in ensuring the mall remains welcoming for everyone who walks through its doors.

07/03/2026

As the region navigates a challenging moment, Majid Al Futtaim is staying focused on what matters most: keeping life moving for the communities we serve. On Dubai Eye’s Business Breakfast, Ahmed Galal Ismail shared how our frontline teams and delivery drivers are ensuring essential services remain steady and customers supported.

Our people are working tirelessly to keep the products, services and spaces customers rely on available. At the same time, our malls are seeing a return to normal Ramadan footfall, with families and friends finding moments of reprieve and connection as they break their fast and gather together.

This moment continues to show the resilience of the UAE and the strength of its people. We are proud to play our part, keeping our spaces welcoming and dependable every day.

In the spirit of Ramadan, colleagues across our Dubai offices came together for “We’ve Got Your Back”, assembling care packages for the service teams who keep our daily operations running seamlessly. Over four days, teams worked side by side to prepare 7,000 hampers, recognising those whose contributions often go unseen yet remain essential to everything we do at Majid Al Futtaim.
