I’ve declined 20 summit invitations this year. Because Africa’s progress won’t come from keynote speakers...., it’ll come from the entrepreneurs who never get invited to speak.

I’ve seen too many hotel ballrooms filled with “Africa Rising” speeches… and too few warehouses filled with African-made products.
Too many “innovation panels”… and not enough innovators getting paid.
Too many roundtables… and not enough action on the ground.

Talk has never built a single factory.

Policy papers don’t feed families.

And PowerPoints don’t power nations.

The truth?
We’ve built an entire industry around talking about development instead of doing development.
Every year, millions are spent on conferences while small businesses drown in silence, fighting structural barriers no one at the podium even understands.

Meanwhile, I’ve spent the past year working with 120 African SMEs, real people solving real problems with zero fanfare. No hashtags. No limelight. Just impact.

And that’s where the real Africa is being reborn, in the dust, the chaos, and the creativity of those who don’t wait for applause.

So no, I’m not against summits. I’m against the illusion that transformation happens there.

Africa doesn’t need another conversation. It needs a conversion, from words to work. Because the next summit I’m attending is called Ex*****on.
