Have you heard of Jólabókaflóð? It translates to "Christmas book flood” and is an Icelandic tradition where on Christmas Eve you give and read new books while sipping on hot chocolate all day. For obvious reasons, we’re obsessed. In honor of Jólabókaflóð we’re offering $3 hot cocoa ($2 kids cocoa) 7am-2pm December 24th. 📚🎁🌵
Reasons to shop local ⬇️⬇️⬇️✨Local businesses foster community. Founded, owned, and operated by folks just like you, we bring people together in-store and online.✨Choosing a locally-owned business generates 3x as much economic benefit for your community vs. shopping a national chain.✨Approximately 28% of all local business revenue immediately recirculates into the local economy.✨Amazon and the big box stores will be fine without your business, but we won’t — small businesses in Tucson literally depend on it to keep our doors open. ✨It’s important now more than ever to come together and invest in the things that bring us joy and good being done in our communities. So, spread the word to shop local. Ask for a “I SHOPPED LOCAL” sticker at checkout at Stacks on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday so you rep your decision proudly. 👏
See you at the bookstore. 🫶📚☕️🍷🌵
All Hail the Queen. 🤍 Join us as we go deep on all of Sally Rooney’s works, start to finish! There is no shortage of fans of Rooney. In 2019, after the release of her second novel, Normal People, the New York Times Book Review dubbed Rooney “the first great millennial writer.” She’s also been hailed as “the Sallinger of the snap chat era” and has been featured by celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker, Taylor Swift, Lena Dunham, and Emily Ratajkowski. In certain social circles, there’s a growing desire to be the type of reader who reads Rooney books. A recent piece from Time Magazine put it this way: “If you read Sally Rooney, the thinking seems to go, you’re smart, but you’re also fun—and you’re also cool enough to be suspicious of both ‘smart’ and ‘fun’ as general concepts.” Whether you’re a long time fan, a critic, or looking to explore a writer who has established herself as a voice for her generation, we hope you’ll join us for this exploration of all things Rooney. We will cover a new book each month between November and February, on the first Monday of each month. As usual, these discussions are free and open to all. 🙌 stacksbookclub.com/events
