Third coyote on this set. Sometimes you see a location and you just know it’s a winner. Trails, elevation changes or whatever and I never drive by a limb or log that sticks out into a travel path.

Customer said he had two coyotes on camera on his 19 acres. Male the first night, female coming in to heat on the third night. Looks like they are breeding a little early this year. Now is the time to make big dents in the coyote population. Take out the breeding female and there’s no new litter of pups this year.

Second round cleanup on this property. Caught 11 coyotes and 5 cats last year in preparation to begin sheep farming. Effective trapping definitely helps control predator populations and protect livestock and wildlife. So far Paden Boutwell and Lila Kate Hellums have been the only ones to catch. Maybe if we get them trained up me and Neal Taylor can sleep in and let them run it. 😂

Finally on the board. I was starting to think I’d forgot how to catch a coyote. 😂 But it goes to show, when you trap the same areas consistently the predator numbers fall drastically. Gets harder and harder when you get to the point you see one set of tracks and coyote on the game camera a few times per month.

I’ll take a decent bobcat to open the season.

Cold front got them up and moving last night. First breeding female of the season. If your wanting to decrease your population it’s kicking off breeding. And removing the breeding females is the best way to decrease population.

Took a little break for bad weather and out of town. Got started back Sunday with a small line. Just five traps. If I could catch on 2/5 of traps consistently I’d sign right up for that.
