Using several different AI, I attempted to create something that captured the essence of what Independence Day means to me.. but after several attempts to find one that could both create images AND spell correctly, I gave up. Lol. Apparently it’s too difficult to do both so I settled with uploading several images instead.

Happy Independence Day y’all!

I have been a US citizen for just over 2 years and while I’ve been here for 12 (previously a green card holder), becoming a citizen has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Politics and current state of economy aside, this is the most amazing country! I still love Canada and miss home sometimes, but when that happens I grab some guns and go shoot things. God bless America!

AI generated coins.

I asked a free AI to create a few coins for me and to do whatever it wanted. I mentioned my name and the last 5 coins I looked at and this is what it came up with. Too bad most AI can’t spell lol.

I’d buy a few of these lol!

I realize there is most likely no one in the world that would fall for something this extreme but there are less obvious scams out there so please be careful when browsing items for sale on eBay (or anywhere for that matter).

My guess is that this is probably a money laundering scam but who knows, I’ve heard there are quite a few sellers out there that put average (or in this case, below average) items up for sale at insane prices, and occasionally someone buys it. Hopefully that won’t be the same this time. I checked the seller out and he had zero reviews so, ya, scam.

All that being said, it still made me stop and take a closer look. It was almost a “Where’s Waldo” moment where I scanned each of the notes for a justification. Unless I missed something… yikes!

Looks like I found myself a lucky penny!

I don’t know how I noticed it partly sticking up out of the grass but it instantly reminded me of a rhyme I heard as a young child growing up in Northern Canada..

“Find a penny, pick it up, all day long you’ll have good luck. Give it to a faithful friend; then, your luck will never end.” This suggests that not only will you gain good luck by picking up a penny found on the ground, but by giving it away, you extend that good fortune. I was actually told that you won’t receive any luck if you keep it so you MUST give it away, and usually to the first person you see. I just happen to look up and saw a very pretty woman sunning herself and I’m sure she thought I was hitting on her.
. pretty sure my luck would have run out if I had, especially if my wife found out! lol

I hope you all had a great week and have the most amazing weekend! We’ve had a fairly rough week with our foster kids but I have to constantly remind myself that their lives are better now than it was last year. I hope you’re all well and happy.

Inquiring minds want to know! How long does it take you to sort through a $100 strap of $1 notes?

I’m curious how long it takes others to go through $1,000 of $1 notes but to make it easier, I’m asking how much time it takes you to do a single $100 strap.

I’ll post my time below after the results are in. I have literally gone through thousands and it’s incredibly time consuming.. but really, really enjoyable. I’m curious about you though!

Round up your time and comment, thanks!

That’s supposed to be a quarter, and it almost cut the roll in half!

I’ve been getting a significant about of unusual coins this past month or two, and I thought something like this might annoy me but it’s kept things exciting. I’m not entirely thrilled when I get a handful of nickels in a box of quarters when coin roll hunting but at least one of them was a war nickel! Of course that was when I was just goofing around and killing time while in Florida on vacation (yes, I brought a box of coins to hunt in case I got bored, don’t judge me lol).

If it’s not on camera then it didn’t happen? I say that all the time to friends (it’s usually an inappropriate joke though).

So if you’ve read this far, you’re awesome. I type fast and descriptions sometimes get away from me. I’ll be working on some new projects soon and can’t wait to show them to you. I’ll give you some hints… one of them will help get US ALL followers! I can’t wait. The other is YouTube (that hint sucked because.. well, that was it). I have a channel that’s been haunting me for 7 months now. No videos, just a bare account that taunts me. The first video is coming soon. I’m slightly different in that I can’t just upload a coin roll hunt, I have to edit the snot out of it and add my goofy humor. Hopefully it’s well received because no one else seems to be doing this. Maybe there’s a reason? Ya, I thought about that. We’ll see I suppose.

See you in the next one…

After a somewhat disappointing trip to my “previously” favorite bank and getting a big ol’ four rolls, we have a new winner!

Around 2 weeks ago I asked one of my banks if they could order me a box of half dollars. She said yes so quickly and easily that I asked if we could make it two? Again, no problem but they didn’t write anything down so I hesitated if I’d even get one. A week later they said they never arrived, check back next week.

This is “next week” so I went in and YES they arrived! Not only did they get the two boxes I requested but they ordered 2 more, just in case!

Want them? Heck ya!

This teller was at a different location but oddly disappeared months ago. A new branch opened a few minutes closer so I went to check it out after the grand opening and there she was! She was busy so I didn’t get to see her or say hi but apparently she saw me walk past and instantly knew the rolls were for me. She knows I coin roll hunt and has absolutely no problem with ordering whatever I want. It’s a rare find to have a bank that doesn’t mind but an even more rare find to get a teller that wants to help you do it!

As I was rolling away with all four boxes on her cart (I’m getting old, my friends, I don’t carry boxes as easily as I used to), I heard her say “I’ve ordered more for you, see you next week.” This might be extreme but, I think I’m in love!

.. don’t tell my wife.

My favorite bank told me that someone dropped off half dollar rolls and they would hold them for me today. I busted my hump getting there before Saturday early closing. I got to the front and she immediately apologized that someone requested one of the rolls and she sold it to them. I thought “That’s okay, I like to share”… then slid 4 rolls across the counter with the biggest smile I’ve seen in quite a while.

This was it?

Yup!

At least her smile was adorable. I faked a big ol’ thank you and took the rolls. In case you were wondering, yes.. I was able to carry all of them to the truck in one trip! lol

One more bank to go, check out my next upload (I’m going to do it immediately after this one). See you there!

Fancy Serial Number | Almost Radar, Almost Repeater (almost a lot of things)
Denomination: $5 | Series: 2021 | Serial No: 71961769 | Issuing Bank: New York

I’m not patting myself on the back but sometimes I amaze myself for spotting different combinations. I’m not saying you would have missed this, on the contrary, I’m saying I probably would have missed this 9 out of 10 times. Lol Today is my lucky day!

I get laser focused on certain combinations and sometimes miss ones like this that almost fit but not quite. How are your spotting skills?

Success! My second $5 Star Note! Okay, that’s pretty crazy considering the hundreds of $1 Star Notes I have. I’m about to dive into $500 strap of $5 Notes so wish me luck!

Not the best or rarest fancy serial number out there but definitely an eye catcher!

Another perfect example of why you should check your wallet! My wife was in the process of getting ready to pay the guy who cuts our lawn when we both liked down and saw all those 9s and 7s!

You probably won’t see something like this selling on eBay for hundreds of dollars but you’ll definitely find it in my collection!

What catches your eye? Would you have kept this one?

Happy hunting everyone!

Going on vacation is rarely my idea and this time was no different, BUT… even though I’m not in the office, I’m still working!

I’m used to my banks where you ask for $1,000 in $1 notes and they are so used to coin roll hunters and currency hunters that they don’t even flinch. I asked at a bank in Orlando, Florida and they seemed confused… that’s awesome! This means they don’t generally get people searching.

I can’t wait to get this back home and dive into the bag!

I kind of feel like the song Every Breath You Take by The Police was written about me and tip jars. I am always watching, always checking… One of these times it will be something that I’m interested in.

How about you? Do you ever sneak a peek and see if it’s something collectible?

It’s currency search Thursday! Thank you ladies at my favorite bank! They know how much I love star notes, fancy serial numbers, error notes, birthday notes, tombstone notes, etc! Lately it’s been mostly trinary serial numbers and the occasional binary.

I was just popping in to drop off $300 worth of dimes and $1,000 in half dollars, and they dropped that on the counter for me! I used to love going through life without being recognized or even noticed, but having people throw money at me? Well that’s just lovely isn’t it?

All I can say is this… I’d make a horrible bank robber! I’d demand all the money in the vault and they’d bring all the $1 notes first. There’d also be a bunch of cops waiting for me at my house since they all know who I am.

Teaser: I have a video I’m working for on and should have it uploaded tomorrow. The ladies behind the counter made me a mystery bag of money yesterday! I love surprises! What was in it? You’ll see… soon!

Not bad!

I started to fill my 4 Whitman Dime folders last night and wondered how many holes could I fill with just a couple rolls? Well, I decided to go with 5 rolls to see how close I could come to filling my folders. I felt pretty confident I wouldn’t touch the first two books (1916-1945 and 1946-1964), with exception to 1964. For some reason I have a TON of those.. although I suppose it’s pretty easy to guess why. Most dimes in the 60s had a mintage of under 300 million (D and P combined) but 1964 produced 929 million P dimes and 1.35 b billion D dimes.

Do you enjoy collecting or coin roll hunting dimes? It might be my least favorite but then again, I’ve said that before and then fell in love with them as I got used to seeing the small dates.

Every journey begins with a single step..
.so very true. First time coin roll hunting dimes, wish me luck!

These dates are brutally hard to read! I’ll be hunting through 2 boxes of times this week and then sorting the trash to fill my Whitman folders. Also, who would have known that I would find an actual use for all the silver dimes that I bought years ago? I picked up a $100 bag (face value) of silver coins from a big name website and they ended up all being dimes. I thought that to be unlucky at the time but not anymore. Perhaps I will make a video of me going through them to fill the older years in my Whitman folder.

I’ll confess, I wasn’t aware this coin existed so when I received $5 in quarters from a change machine in a laundromat, I thought it was either a foreign coin or an error. Where is all the writing?? (her outfit on the obverse IS the writing… I didn’t see that at first)

I sensed my error when I received another $20 from the same change machine and found a couple more. I sometimes have luck (you haven’t seen my wife but… I married up!) but to find 3 error coins in one day and the same series? No.

That being said, if you check eBay you’ll see several people selling them for insane amounts of money. Sorry, not selling.. asking. I don’t know anyone who would buy one “claiming” to be an error for $2k. If you do, send me their info, I have 3 to sell them! Ha!! (Just kidding, please don’t send me someone’s info. Last time I joked like that I received 6 messages. I’m presuming the contact info they sent me was an ex or someone they hated)

Day 5 of the great Canadian move from plastic sleeves to Whitman folders. This time I only have a few empty years (5) and they are the more difficult ones to find, especially from the US.

I’m not sure if this is normal but I thought I would need a hydronic press to get them in. Pretty sure I’ll have to rip the folder apart if I want to get them back out, not that I have any plans on doing so. I have a couple doubles; 1920, 1921, 1933 and 1933. Not shown are a handful of US coins that I found in Canadian rolls when coin roll hunting (including 2 steel Pennie’s and 3 Indian Heads).

How do you think old Canadian pennies compare with US Wheat Pennies?

(FYI This isn’t my silver bar, I borrowed it from an eBay listing)

Day 4 of moving my Canadian coin collection from hideous plastic sheets to Whitman Folders! I’m not even half way done but it’s a labor of love so I don’t care if it takes a long time.. the longer it takes the better! Today’s task, moving dollars (aka loonies). I’m fairly sure I have more kicking around somewhere but there’s still plenty of work to do next time I visit Ontario. After 1996, all I have is a damaged 2012.

My assistant came over to give me a hand with the photos (she’s a tripod kitty… we rescued her and she only had 3 legs). We also have two dogs, both golden retrievers but they didn’t feel like having their picture taken. One is a white golden (English Cream Golden) and the other is red.

Day Three for moving my old Canadian coin collection over from horrible plastic pages to a new Whitman Coin Folder. Sooo much nicer!

Canadian nickels were one of the coins that I actively coin roll hunted and also watched customer change while working at a gas station (back when a lot more people used money and not plastic to buy things). Somehow I managed to find a few war nickels in coin rolls, which was incredibly awesome.

Canadian war nickels and US war nickels are completely different. The main difference is that Canada didn’t use silver, they used something called tombac (a copper-zinc alloy). It’s not worth as much as far as melt value is concerned but it’s still very neat!

Do you have any Canadian nickels? Do you collect them?

Day two of moving my old Canadian coin collection from the old (kinda) ugly folders to Whitman folders. Today I tackled Canadian Large Cents, minted from 1858 to 1920. After these Canada went to small cents.

Do you like Canadian coins? How often do you find them in American coin rolls? (I do ALL the time)
