F.L.T.AIRSOFT

F.L.T.AIRSOFT my name is james "spazz" barnett. i have been playing airsoft since 1999-2000. i started building gu i am a small 1 person tech and sales shop.

currently i am carrying SHS and CORE
internals. im working on getting my own line of custom parts made. they wil include
bushings, motors and pistons to start. i may move on to producing my own gears
but i have not decided on that yet.

Internally wiring a tracer regulator unit for my buddy roger. For his bodied . Custom wiring integrated units can be tedious and a general pita. But when it is done, it is so worth the extra work.

In my quest to develop more precise components and parts for the airsoft world. I often come across other problems that need to be solved as well. Shims, by nature, should be precise. I have always disliked how most shims fit on the gear axles. This led me to make my own shims. This has led to this issue. I am happy with the ID to OD fitment, but the radius on gear axles creates a gap between the shim and the flat surface of the gear. This means that the gears are not shimmed properly. The fix to this is to grind a radius into the ID of the largest shim that will rest against the surface of the gear. This allows for shims the sit flat against the surface of the gear.

This is the type of wear that happens when the motor tower isn't the right size or shimmed properly. If you look closely at the tips of the gear teeth, you can see the wear patterns im talking about.

This is another modification that I perform on parts before I install them. The ports in this piston head are undersized and they don't go down into the oring groove area in the piston head like it should. I use a ball mill to enlarge the hole and put it at the bottom of the oring groove. This allows propper airflow when the piston is retracting in the cylinder to help the cylinder fill properly.

Not every idea i get is great out of the box. The piston head spacer on the right was machined from lexan and although lexan is great at absorbing impact, it doesnt like flexing. The minor bit of flexing that this piece underwent was enough to cause fractures. The piston head spacer on the left is made from derin/acetal. When i got this AEG back in for repairs (the spacer didnt fail) i replaced the piston head spacer. There was no charge for the replacement.

factory motor tower to gearbox fitment VS motor tower to gearbox fitment. Sometimes when you want top tier you have to make it yourself. Maybe i should be thanking some of these companies. Since, if they made products to the quality that i expect from my work, i wouldn't actually have a job or need to design products.

That's a little more gap than i like between an inner and outer barrel. Machined a spacer and locktite'd it in place. Now there is 0.002" of diametrical clearance instead of the massive gap there was.

you guys need to do better. I may be able to understand making some of your products to fit multiple other brands. But at least make more of an effort to make your own stuff fit your own stuff. Over 1mm of clearance between the hole in the gearbox and the motor tower. This is why we need a standard of measurement in airsoft.

After 10 years of use, the hook on the tappet plate finally broke. Shs tappet plate, with shaved face. Upon opening the gb saw the spring was also broke. Funny enough, this aeg still shot 390~fps w/.2's. One bushing needs to be glued back in. The front of the gearbox in this 15yr old Marui shell doesnt have any cracks. For this gb not being opened in the past 3.5yrs. Id say this gb is holding up quite well.

This is why every part gets inspected and modified (if nessesary) before installation. This is also another reason why my builds take longer than most to complete. Every part is inspected by hand, i modify and make several parts by hand to ensure precise fitment. Every part is cleaned by hand, then every part is checked for fitment in the gearbox individually, then with its matching components, then with all the components together and cycled by hand to ensure propper fitment and meshing/cycling, then the tolerances are documented before final assembly where I do any final checks and make sure that the shims are stacked in the order and direction i want them to sit in the stack on the gears. Then after the gearbox has been cycled and tested the gb is removed, the screw holes cleaned and the screws are secured with . And still there is more.
