Summer Greetings!

Well, our wonderful Spring Recital is over, and so is our Music School year.

Suddenly, it's time for summer classes, and our long-awaited Buy One Get One Free Music lessons are starting. If you continue your regular instrument, you can enjoy trying another one with it for free for June and July. Younger children will enjoy playing the Piano Horn, Harmonica, Xylophone, Percussion, or Ukulele.

If you have already studied 2 years, you can try cello, violin, flute, accordion, guitar, bass, dulcimer, or harp, with free rentals! Now’s your chance to give it a try😊

We only teach Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays in June and July, and daily Fall Scheduling starts August 2. We have “family rates” for more than one instrument – or more than one student. Let’s Make Music!

How true, how true....My best "therapy" after a small stroke was learning to read and play music again. I couldn't believe it was covered but not REcovered after playing all my life. I am so grateful all my students have hung in there with me. You are so kind as I need patience and understanding with my thoughts and words not always being in sync!

I made mention of the scripture where Christ says that "even the rocks would cry out". That used to be a ? for me, but no more. Everything created has a voice! If "voice" is vibration - both vocally and instrumentally, and the wind can make even sand sing sometimes....then get a load of this!
All matter is in constant vibration; the building blocks of the physical creation-- the atoms, the subatomic particles, electrons, protons, gluons, quarks and all other names that we use-- are all in constant motion; all are receiving, transmitting and reflecting the vibrations which sweep through all matter at light velocities. Consider that within atoms there are electron packets of energy that are singing the same vibrational song throughout your brain/body, the Earth, Solar system and Universe. This is a sounding chorus of the One Great Electric Body.

Lets Make Music, providing music instruction in Woodstock, Georgia, welcomes you.

Learning to make music is especially worthwhile! Typically, playing an instrument requires each hand to do something different, which engages every major part of the central nervous system, along with giving your brain lots of information to process.
And don’t let age be an obstacle. Research shows that although older adults may learn more slowly than younger people, they are just as able to learn new musical instruments and skills. Another study, of people who started to play piano between the ages of 60 and 85, suggests that music practice has the potential to transfer to nonmusical spheres, too. The study found that after six months, the group who received piano lessons had more gains in memory, verbal expression, and planning ability than those who had not received lessons.

Identify an instrument that excites you - whether it’s the shape, the sounds or the way that it’s played. We teach 31 different instruments and would love to have you come over and try out as many as you want! Please visit our website: www.letsmakemusic.us for more information.

GLORIA UBERTO (anni 13) presenta il suo nuovo clarinetto Patricola modello Artista Bubinga

Don't you just just love to witness her skills! Her tone and dedication....I would love to hear her play something less "mathematically intricate" and perhaps Cruella DeVil or Zippidy Doo Dah. I guess this Disney Spring Recital is saturating my awareness...Now that there's no school, we can all practice more

Let's Make Music loves Play! Come and see what we can offer children and adults. You can afford to DO it!

Here's a great idea! I have 8 Rainbow Harps at home for students to rent and explore how "easy" it is to play the harp....You can wear these terrific harps with a strap on your shoulder - like a guitar, set it on a foot stool, buy a stand to stand it on, or use a "lap stick" to keep it on your lap. Now, I'll have to try a colorful pillow for small people sitting on a foot stool.

We also have 8 Rainbow Ukuleles and creative ideas for playing all kinds of songs! All of our Scale Olympics students are winners with simple scales, chords, and arpeggios. We can read notes and learn Tablature for songs and chords. Find out more at: www.letsmakemusic.us or call Laurel Gibson at 770.295.9235

I hope you’ve made a new year’s resolution that includes more practice! Our brains develop like our muscles...when you keep doing something over, and over again, it gets stronger and easier to do. We are learning several Disney songs for our Spring Recital with our regular lessons, and working toward the Scale Olympics in the spring. If it’s hard, it won’t be fun until you have worked out all the boo-boos. If some music is too hard for you right now, hang in there. You will learn to play one step at a time, until you CAN play at any level you want. It does take time...I have been playing the piano for over 70 years!

André Rieu

The incessant rhythms, and expressive, aching soprano sax calls to the others to "dance" and sing with her...and they Really Do. The horns are aching, too - in a demanding way. The strings like to float around and watch from above....Then comes the Courage, and insistent full-bodied choir and orchestra combined. Crashing cymbals and fireworks make for an outstanding climax. All the while listening - our hearts will beat along, being locked in communion with something very basic. MUSIC!

DID YOU KNOW... The original Bolero by Ravel lasts for 15 minutes and is played somewhere in the world every 15 minutes.
