It's a couple hours early, but I am so 🤩 EXCITED 🤩 to ring in October this year. This month is my favorite, hands down, because it has something for everyone... 👇👇👇

🎃 The emerging fall weather (and cold weather if we're lucky here in CA)

🎃 Also, I heard it's the only time of the year where you can watch all of the major sports at the same time.. is that true?!

Anyway, I've been busy as an elf, getting the workshop ready for the inevitable uptick with the holidays getting closer and closer - making sure that I've crossed my t's and dotted my i's all in prep for the holiday hubbub.

In the meantime, thanks for being patient as the FB store get's dialed in. Keep an eye out for new listings in the future.

Has anyone made a time capsule for their family?⁣⁠

As I read about the wonderful finds of my genealogy friends, I thought about how fun it would be to give our posterity the opportunity to get a glimpse into our current lives. In addition to recording the history of our parents and grandparents, show them what life was like back in 2019. What fashion trends are happening, what kind of music is dominating the airwaves, what weird and wacky food is being eaten...⁣⁠

Even just thinking back to the 90's... if I were to crack open a time capsule from elementary school me there would probably be pink jelly sandals, butterfly hairclips, Lisa Frank everything, a Spice Girls CD, and Doritos 3D's. Ahhh, those were the days.⁣⁠

Here's what I would include in my time capsule:⁣⁠

🔖 Comprehensive family tree⁣⁠
🔖 Immediate family photo⁣⁠
🔖 Newspaper or magazine with current global issues⁠
🔖 A list of prices of things like gas, milk, college tuition (because, inflation!)⁣⁠
🔖 A flash drive with a bunch music curated by your family DJ's (kids, most likely)⁣⁠
🔖 A list of your favorite places in town (nice to see if they are still around)⁣⁠

SUMMER NOSTALGIA 🤗⁠

Oh, how I love thee!⁠

Summer is my absolute favorite time of the year. Though as adults summer is not necessarily what it used to be with our unavoidable responsibilities, I now realize that it's such a great time to create those everlasting memories that build character and shape the future with my own kids. Life sure was different back in the day though, before there were cell phones with an endless array of apps to connect you with anyone the world over.⁠

I remember how long the days seemed to drag and how my friends and I had to find things to do to fill up all those hours... like making a slip-and-slide out of trash bags... riding our bikes till the streetlights came on... exploring the tunnels in the arroyo... or sitting underneath the railroad overpass waiting for a train to pass by. Simple pleasures those were!⁠
