The Hook & Needle Nook was the pipe dream of 8 Spokane women who starting talking about what would like to do if they ran their own yarn shop. It would have wonderful yarn from local sources as well as other fiber artists that create unique and beautiful things with fiber. It would have an area where fiber artist can gather and share their craft time with each other. It would have a child’s corner with toys and books to occupy little ones while their mothers shopped or took a class. Oh yes! Lots of classes!! Spinning wheels, of course, and some looms, and fleece and fiber to spin! The whole idea caught fire in me and I drafted a business plan and proceeded to turn a pipe dream into a reality! I built the Nook with all these wonderful ideas and I have a small, intimate place where fiber artists can come buy, sell, or get crafty together. I am having the time of my life! Our group of 8 still meets on Tuesday evenings and we are still brain storming!! The Nook opened its doors for the first time on June 1st, 2018. The big grand opening was on the 4th of July weekend 2018. I have designed the place to be hospitable, welcoming, and a school where you can find books or classes to light your creative passions. As a consequence, I have met some wonderful fiber artists and created a place for them to share. I am looking forward to the artists I will meet as the shop takes on its life. The wonderful things my fiber buddies create are inspiring and leave me in awe. Come by and see us. Have some coffee, sit and knit for a while, consign a wheel or a loom, try a new craft or buy a piece of fiber art someone took the time and effort to create. And stay tuned here for classes, updates, and, of course, things to buy for your fiber addiction! In our shop, you will find healing hospitality, peace, and the simple goodness of making something useful with your own hands.
