Our Story.
Sandberg Jewelers, your trusted 3rd generation jeweler, first opened its doors in 1919. Philip Sr. and Frank Sandberg, brothers, started on Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago, next to the Portage Theater. Movies were the entertainment of the day. Ironically, Sandberg Jewelers is again operating in close proximity with a movie theater right here in Village Crossing. Sandberg on Milwaukee would provide service to customers lining up to enter the theater. With streetcars rumbling up and down Milwaukee, the business thrived and the world changed.
In 1956, Philip Jr. and his bride, Saundra, moved the business to Irving Park. Philip and Saundra continued to grow the business and raise 5 children. Always active in community and charity affairs, Philip and Saundra helped to build the business through many economic climates.
The internet became important for Sandberg Jewelers in 1997 when sandbergjewelers.com was up and running. Karen and Susan, the two eldest children, took over the business in 1998. In 2002, they relocated to Village Crossing. Then, in 2004 Susan and her husband, Francois, became the sole owners of Sandberg Jewelers.
An amazing expansion happened at Sandberg Jewelers in 2012. The entire store was completely updated. The showroom was enlarged to over 4,000 square feet and the selection and service grew along with the new look. Even the Repair Department greatly expanded.
Sandberg Jewelers continues the tradition of knowledgeable and friendly service, wide selection, and great prices. Specializing in diamond jewelry, Sandberg Jewelers also carries gold and platinum jewelry, colored gemstones and watches. A full repair shop on the premises offers everything from ring sizing to exquisite custom designs.
When you stop in at Sandberg Jewelers, you will find 3rd generation Sandbergs on site, and even a few 4th generation learning the business, as well as several knowledgeable staff ready to assist you. With over 100 years of business, you've probably shopped with Sandberg Jewelers or have a friend who has. Not only is Sandberg Jewelers a third generation jeweler, but many of our customers are third and fourth generation clients. People tend to stick with a good thing when they find it.
