The Riverside Artswalk is a monthly community event that celebrates the diversity of arts and culture in Riverside and the Inland Empire. Visit over 22 downtown locations, including museums, galleries and studios, presenting an eclectic mix of visual and performing arts. Either before or after, enjoy the many entertainment, dining and shopping experiences that downtown Riverside has to offer.

🎧 May Music Spotlight: Marc Goldstein (DJ Birdtastique) 🎧
Marc Goldstein, also known as DJ Birdtastique, began his musical journey as a kid singing along to the radio before diving into records of his own and dreaming of starting a band. In the early ’80s, he helped form the Inland Empire punk band When Kids Are Alone, playing DIY shows across the region. In the early 2000s, he co-founded the DJ duo Mantastique, turning a quiet Tuesday night at a Riverside bar into a packed, 1,200-person phenomenon. That success led to years of residencies and performances across Southern California, helping shape the local DJ scene. Today, Marc is a staple of Riverside’s music culture, performing regularly at Artswalk and local venues and curating DJ sets at Coachella for over 15 years. A lifelong Riversider, he continues to bring energy, color, and community to every set. Make sure to check him out at the Benjamin Franklin Stage on May 7th during Artswalk!

🎧 Artista del Mes de Mayo: Marc Goldstein (DJ Birdtastique) 🎧
Marc Goldstein, también conocido como DJ Birdtastique, comenzó su trayectoria musical de niño, cantando junto a la radio antes de adentrarse en sus propios discos y soñar con formar una banda. A principios de los años 80, ayudó a formar la banda punk del Inland Empire When Kids Are Alone, tocando en shows DIY por toda la región.
A inicios de los 2000, cofundó el dúo de DJs Mantastique, convirtiendo una tranquila noche de martes en un bar de Riverside en un fenómeno con 1,200 personas. Ese éxito dio lugar a años de residencias y presentaciones en todo el sur de California, ayudando a dar forma a la escena local de DJs.

🎨 May Artist Spotlight: Leslie A. Brown 🎨
Leslie A. Brown is a University Honors graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, the University of New Mexico (Painting & Printmaking), and the Maryland Institute College of Art (Business). During her graduate studies, she received a prestigious fellowship to study printmaking at the Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
With a 40-year career as both an artist and educator, Leslie’s exhibition history is extensive, with work held in private, corporate, and museum collections across the United States and Europe.
She is currently a tenured Professor of Art at Riverside City College and Gallery Director of The Quad Gallery in Riverside. Show her some love as this month’s Artist Spotlight by checking out her artwork on display at Division 9 Gallery during Artswalk!

Con una trayectoria de 40 años como artista y educadora, la historia de exposiciones de Leslie es extensa, con obras en colecciones privadas, corporativas y de museos en Estados Unidos y Europa.
Actualmente es profesora titular de arte en Riverside City College y directora de la galería The Quad Gallery en Riverside. ¡Dale mucho amor a nuestra Artista del Mes! 💙

March Artist Spotlight: Alejandro “Mano” Mirandé 🎨
A muralist, artist, graphic designer, musician, and events promoter from Riverside, Mano brings over 25 years of experience and heart into everything he creates. His passion for sharing art, love, and culture with the community continues to fuel his creativity and dedication to the arts.

Attention Artswalk artists: As we enter the new year, we want to remind all participants of the rules and regulations regarding what may be sold at Riverside Artswalk. Our events are strictly for original, handmade artwork created by the participating artist. These guidelines help uphold the spirit of Artswalk by highlighting the original artwork of our local artists. We kindly ask for your support in honoring these guidelines.
The following items are prohibited:
• Commercial businesses
• Copyright-infringing wares, including but not limited to clothing, mugs, prints, tumblers, or any items featuring logos, characters, or designs created by another individual or entity without permission
• Resale items, including but not limited to clothing, vintage items, toys, books, shoes, novelty items, jewelry, and records
• Natural items, including plants, stones, and crystals
• Incense, perfumes, body oils, soaps, or other cosmetic products that come into contact with the human body or skin
• Food items of any kind
• Drug paraphernalia
• Gang-related artwork
• Permanent jewelry
To be clear, if any part of your work includes copyrighted material you did not create or do not have legal permission to use, it is considered a policy violation and could jeopardize the future of Riverside Artswalk and other Riverside Arts Council events (fan art excluded).
