We're a little late in posting our congratulations, but are "over-the-top-tickled" with the first race of the season results for all of our young friends and customers who raced at the NICA Mountain Bike Race in Frankfort last week-end (9/12/21). They racked up points, personal bests and scored really high on the fun scale.

A special CONGRATULATIONS to our high school intern Arianna Akins on her first place finish, racing for the Marshall County High School Mountain Bike Team.

What an honor to be named the Paducah Chamber’s Small Business of the Year. A shout-out to our amazing BIkeWorld crew for all they do to make life better for others. Proud of
you Gregory Page; Austin Hines, Kyle Lamb, Zach Ybarzabal, Walker Riley and Arianna Akins.
It was a extra delight that former BIkeWorld staffer, Chad Beyer, honored as the outgoing Chamber chair, gave the best speech of the night.
A special night.

Dear PeopleForBikes Supporter,

Congress is moving quickly on infrastructure decisions and a large spending package, and we need your help to speak up for critical bike funding and incentive programs. On the table this week is funding for recreational trails and connected bike lanes, an electric bicycle tax credit and a bicycle commuter benefit. Click the button below to tell your member of Congress to support these essential bike programs.

TAKE ACTION
Increasing funding for recreation and transportation infrastructure will help build and connect the bike lanes and trails that make it safe and easy to get around your community by bicycle. Establishing tax incentives for electric bicycles and bike commuting make going by bike instead of driving an even more affordable option for all Americans while at the same time helping lower carbon emissions to fight the climate crisis.

Learn more about these important bicycle infrastructure and incentive programs:

Infrastructure Funding
Electric Bicycle Tax Credit (E-BIKE Act)
Bicycle Commuter Act
Together, we can make biking better for everyone.

Sincerely,

Jenn Dice

It’s a happy, upbeat day at BIkeWorld. Drop by and let’s share some good energy vibes with you.

Families keeping their eyes open for quality, pre-owned bikes, we have 3 sweet rides that’ll be perfect for the right sized people. A teeny- weeny 2 wheel Trek for a 3-5 year old. No training wheels but they can be added if needed.

A BEAUTIFUL, lightweight, older model Raleigh M80, perfect for a 4’10 - 5’2” someone who loves riding and appreciates quality even if on an older model.

An older Trek 700 multi-track with 21 speeds (all new shifters.) -We replaced those and put on new tires. Will fit a rider about 5’ to 5’5”.

Happy to say we’ve also been steadily adding new bike stock with 15 more models due next week.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers rehabilitation of Paducah’s floodwall, has affected access to short segments of the Greenway Trail. The two pump station projects currently underway will be wrapping up soon allowing the Greenway Trail segments to reopen in mid-October.

Mayor George Bray said, “I understand the frustration in having short segments of our beautiful Greenway Trail closed. As an avid cyclist, I use the trail often, and the closures lead to my seeking out another route. However, Paducah is investing in its public safety infrastructure by rehabilitating the components of our 75-year-old floodwall.

I respectfully ask for the public to be patient as we complete these projects that are important to Paducah and McCracken County’s property and safety.”

IN PROGRESS - Construction of New Pump Station - Since May, a contractor has been working to install discharge pipes associated with the construction of a new floodwall pump station. This work requires the closure of the Greenway Trail between mile markers 2.7 and 2.9 behind the Smoke Shop (2300 North 8th Street). This section of Greenway Trail is expected to reopen by October 18, weather-permitting.

Tuesday's toasty tour, usually referred to as the Cruiser Ride, begins here (at Bikeworld) at 6 PM...pre hydration recommended 😊. Helmets required. No one left behind. Ride for about 75 minutes, or turn back at anytime if you have enough earlier. A good ride for meeting other riders.

“ I try not to ride my bicycle in a storm that has, you know, a NAME. “
The picture is as close as we got to Bike New York’s 5 Boro Ride. After the May 2020 event was moved to October due to Covid, then May, then August, Team BIkeWorld finally checked in for the rescheduled ride Friday evening. We went through the sign-in, had our ID’s checked, showed our vaccination cards, got our packets, number cards, start time assignments and instructions. Just sitting down to a nice outdoor dinner and the call came. The 5 Boro Ride - cancelled!
Due to Hurricane Henri and the resources needed to deal with it, to say nothing of 20,000 riders struggling with driving rain and 25 mile an hour winds, it was a sensible decision. Having the mayor make it kept us from agonizing over whether we would try to do it, in spite of the conditions Sunday morning, or not.
Saturday was still beautiful so we rented cruisers, and spent the day bicycling by clunker. Fun, but far different from the cycling adventure we expected. Here’s to New York’s 5 Boro Ride 2022!

I’m sorry to tell you that in spite of our best efforts to keep everyone safe, one of our BikeWorld team has contracted Covid. Everyone here is making arrangements to be tested. Until those results are back, the store is closed.

We realize this is an inconvenience to you. We apologize. But, we cannot chance spreading this and endangering other community members, staff, families or anyone.

No matter how healthy you think you are, please get the facts about the vaccine from your personal doctor, pediatrician or general surgeon. Talk to the doctor you would trust to save your life after an accident or serious illness and allow them to advise you how to stop this cycle of disease.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding. We’ll update as soon as possible.

The ride is "Rain or Shine." (Moonshine, that is!) That means it won't be rescheduled for a later date this year. BUT, if there is drenching rain or lightening, we are not going to suggest anyone ride, and we will not have course volunteers working in those conditions. However, if there's a simply summer night showers- - - well, that's just an adventure.
Should weather keep us from riding, the streets will remain marked for some time and route maps will be available at BikeWorld, so you can ride on some delightful evening later in the summer.
In the event of severe weather, we'll set up inside BikeWorld from 7:30 to 10 and and distribute tees to the riders eligible for one. Tees not claimed tonight will be available at Paducah Cooperative Ministry through August 31, 2021.

Congratulations everyone at BikeWorld on your Chamber of Commerce Award last night! Keep up the good work! You're a tremendous asset to our community.
I remember when you guys were at Cardinal Point still and some BMX/freestyle guys, probably on a tour, set up and did a show in the parking lot? Any photos or video from that day? This was mid-90s I’d say.
We love helping with surprises!
Open 1-5 PM today. Cycling goodies from $2.50. Free gift wrap!
Currently, I'm touring from Austin, Tx to New York City; I had a problem with my rear rim when I called them they were so lovely and helpful when I arrived to the store they fixed my bike immediately, refueled my water Bottles. They checked everything else on the bike, right on fellas. Great bike store and excellent customer service.
"Plagues weakened the Roman Empire and may have helped bring it down. The sewers that cleaned up a filthy London in the 19th century were built in direct response to a cholera outbreak. Many of the great urban parks, including Central Park in New York City, were similarly planned after epidemics, to provide more open space. Today, the coronavirus pandemic, in all its horror, opens the prospect of sweeping urban change. Cities suddenly see the possibility of correcting their greatest mistake of the 20th century, the surrender of too much public space to the automobile. Cities need to seize this moment and move at lightning speed. We need to find a better balance between the cars on our streets and the bicyclists and pedestrians who have, for decades, been neglected and pushed to the margins."
Sure hope they are social distancing
Thank for your help yesterday and today! You guys are the best!!
New bike day X3 today. Congratulations to Gregory Page and Austin Hines on the sub 15 minute Marlin 5 assembly! Thank you guys!
A great big thanks to Austin and Greg for all their help with my new Garman 830 GPS! BikeWorld had a fair price and provided great help with how to set it up for use!!
