You bring the fishing spirit, and enjoy the day. The Quinault River originates on the west side of the Olympic Mountains in Washington State. The Anderson Glacier Ice Caves, the origin of the river, is in the above photo (click on the photo for a larger image). The North and East Forks merge several miles above Lake Quinault. The background is a photo of that spot from a helicopter. The Quinault Indian Reservation extends from the Pacific Ocean to Lake Quinault. The 33 miles of river on the reservation are home to 6 species of salmon and both summer and winter run steelhead. There are 2 hatcheries on the Quinault watershed. You must have an Indian guide to fish on the Quinault reservation. Off reservation fishing is open to the public. Hiking along the upper Quinault river can be a most unforgettable experience as you marvel at the best Mother Nature has to offer! When fishing on the reservation, no punchcard/license is required.
