The door is locked and the lights are out. Thirty-Nine and one half years of doing business at 500 West Third Street ended tonight. The original owner had a dream to create this store in 1983. Our store has seen lots of changes over the years in downtown. It has been a roller coaster ride at times! I took over as owner almost 20 years ago. On behalf of the former owner, Eleanor Meade Waller, our current and former employees/dealers, as well as my family, I’d like to thank you all for all the business and friendships we have been blessed with.

The journey isn’t over for 6 dealers and myself. I am renovating a former residence at 2119 Frederica Street to house our antiques, jewelry, cast iron, quilted and gift items, and seasonal decor. We hope to provide an unique and pleasant shopping experience for our community. Please continue to follow this page as we will be updating along the way this journey to reopen. The anticipated opening date is this fall. We look forward to seeing you there.

Well we only have 14 days left for you to shop our store. Some booths are greatly discounted. Please know other booths are moving to our new store on Frederica Street. Those items will be tied up in storage until we are able to open this fall. Come shop with us now for best selection of remaining items. We look forward to the new store but are sad to see the end of this 39 year old legacy. I’m not sure there will ever be another true antique mall again in Owensboro. However there are other shops and flea markets that have great items for sale. Please shop them in the coming months you are waiting for us to open.

Owensboro Antique Mall, 500 W. Third St., will close on Feb. 28 after 391/2 years in business to make way for an 88,000-square-foot indoor sports complex.

Three weeks from today is the end of this legacy. The next store will be different and hopefully better. Lots of merchandise in this building will not be available at the next store. Some are moving, some are packing and storing, some will be donated. Come in soon while items are still available.

We got the keys today!

Big announcement. I will be getting the keys to 2119 Frederica tomorrow. This will be the new home to Owensboro Antiques and More. I will have to get the residence up to handicap accessibility and make parking improvements. I don’t know how long that will take. I’ve been working on this since September. It has been a journey. I haven’t been able to talk about it publicly until now. I’m taking 5 of my current dealers with me to open this shop. It is smaller so unfortunately there isn’t room for all the dealers we have at the mall. I hope that we can continue to be your destination for antiques and more. When God closes one door, sometimes another one opens. I’ve admired this property for many years. I had a wonderful relationship with the landlord at the mall. I’m so blessed that this opportunity came at this time when our building sold. I have said this before, It isn’t goodbye for Owensboro Antique Mall but see you later! Remember there are only 26 days left to shop our current location. While we are renovating the Frederica Street location, we will be out buying to bring fresh inventory in for the new store. Keep following us for updates.

Due to impending bad weather we will not be opening tomorrow at 10am. Check back in the morning for any updates on a delayed opening. Remember that after tomorrow, we only have 28 days left in our 39 year history. It is so surreal. A few months ago, I wouldn’t have expected to say those words. I had wished that our journey could have make it to 40 years or perhaps 50!We have started packing and some have moved out already. Come check us out soon before it is too late.
