Very disheartening to have to say this. It was recently brought to my attention that teens with eBikes are riding them on the new skatepark, doing burnouts on the concrete with their tires, and even running into small children with them. The rules for the Ottumwa All Wheels SkatePark were modeled after other, successful, concrete skateparks to ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone at the park.
Rule #3: No motorized units of ANY kind allowed.
This means no gas powered units, as well as electric powered units. No motorcycles, no eCycles, no eBikes, no eScooters, no RC cars, etc. Again, "No motorized units of ANY kind allowed."
I have spoken to the police department, and they have told me, "If a rule is posted, the police can enforce it." As you can see on the sign, the police department and parks department phone numbers are posted at the bottom of the sign. If you witness someone not abiding by the rules, especially if it is endangering others, and/or damaging the park, please report it.
And parents, if you have kids riding eBikes (particularly the "motorcycle-style" ones), please encourage them to use them safely, responsibly, and "lawfully".
Please share this post to help spread the word.
