The only thing we're going to "admit" is how cool the bike is we built for American Home Finding Association's "Chocolate Lovers" event, AND that you will have a good time when you go, which is TONIGHT (FEBRUARY 9TH, HAVE YOU GOTTEN YOUR TICKETS YET?!?)!!!

As always, we've "sweated the details" of the bike (I mean, LOOK at these pics!), trying to make it, not only a "core-level" bike, but matching it as close as we can to the theme of the event. which this year is "Casino Royale". What began as a Kink Launch model bike, ended up almost completely different with a mix of upper-end Kink, Odyssey, and Profile Racing components. Too much to list! We must say, this is one of the most eye-catching, one-of-a-kind builds we've ever done, and it's going to go to some lucky bidder! WILL IT BE YOU?!

(Psst... If you want to see the complete bike, it's now sitting in our front window until the day of the event!)

And, if you can't make it to the "Chocolate Lovers" event (which, HELLO!, all-you-can-eat CHOCOLATE!), American Home Finding Association is a non-profit charitable organization (founded in 1899!) that you can donate to any time of the year!

Did we mention how cool the bike is we built for American Home Finding Association's "Chocolate Lovers" event, which is coming right up (FEBRUARY 9TH, HAVE YOU GOTTEN YOUR TICKETS YET?!?)?

I mean, your bike might be "cool", but is it "Bicycle-brand-playing-card-affixed-into-the-spokes-to-make-it-sound-like-a-motorcycle-when-the-wheel-is-spinning-old-school cool"? Probably not.

Well, here it is, the "final reveal" of the custom build we did for American Home Finding Association's "Chocolate Lovers" event, which is coming right up (FEBRUARY 9TH, HAVE YOU GOTTEN YOUR TICKETS YET?!?).

Well, one final "sneak peek" before we post the "final reveal" of the custom build we're doing for American Home Finding Association's "Chocolate Lovers" event, which is coming right up (FEBRUARY 9TH, HAVE YOU GOTTEN YOUR TICKETS YET?!?).

This time, these pics show a little of how we've "sweated the details" of the bike, trying to make it, not only a "core-level" bike, but matching it as close as we can to the theme of the event. which this year is "Casino Royale". We must say, this is one of the most eye-catching, one-of-a-kind builds we've ever done, and it's going to go to some lucky bidder! WILL IT BE YOU?!

Well, it's been a few days since we posted the last "sneak peek", and American Home Finding Association's "Chocolate Lovers" event is coming right up (FEBRUARY 9TH, HAVE YOU GOTTEN YOUR TICKETS YET?!?), so we thought we'd post another "sneak peek" pic.

This time, the pic is of the "midcoast" of the bike, giving you a little more idea of what's going into this bike. And, of course, this is the bike we've custom built for this year's "Chocolate Lovers" silent auction. Their theme this year is "Casino Royale", so, as we've done in years past, we did our best to capture that theme in the build. We must say, this is one of the most eye-catching, one-of-a-kind builds we've ever done, and it's going to go to some lucky bidder! WILL IT BE YOU?!

(Psst... If you want to see the complete bike, once it's finished - IT'S NOT FINISHED YET - just come downtown and you can see it sitting in our front window!)

And, if you can't make it to the "Chocolate Lovers" event (which, HELLO!, all-you-can-eat CHOCOLATE!), American Home Finding Association is a non-profit charitable organization (founded in 1899!) that you can donate to any time of the year!

Here's a couple of "teaser" pics of the bike we're custom building (IT'S NOT DONE YET!) for this year's American Home Finding Association's annual "Chocolate Lovers" silent auction, which is FEBRUARY 9TH, SO GET YOUR TICKETS!

This year's theme is "Casino Royale", so, as we always try to do, the bike build is our attempt to match the bike with that theme, and then, of course, we build the absolute best bike we can to help best support their event and organization. And this year was no exception, as we feel this will be, once again, one of the most eye-catching builds we've ever done!

So, here is a "glimpse", for now, and then we will post another "glimpse" as we get closer to the date of the event.

And, if you can't make it to the "Chocolate Lovers" event (which, HELLO!, all-you-can-eat CHOCOLATE!), American Home Finding Association is a non-profit charitable organization (founded in 1899!) that you can donate to any time of the year!

Getting ready to start the custom build on the bike we're donating to American Home Finding Association's annual "Chocolate Lover's" fund raiser silent auction! Trust us, when this bike is done, it will only barely look anything like the stock bike that came out of the box! See those "extra boxes"? Yeah, we got plans for this bike! Keep your eyes peeled for more "sneak peeks" coming in the next few days. And, if you want to see the full bike, it'll be here for you to see up until the day of the event, which is Friday, February 9th, at Hotel Ottumwa, and there will be LOTS of other items there in the silent auction, so make sure you mark your calendars to be there!

Ok, Mother Nature. You win this round. Unfortunately, and, as appears to be the case with many other businesses, the shop will not be open today, due to excessive snow shoveling.

We will keep you posted, but, with the subzero temps ahead, we might not be open the next few days.

Thanks for understanding. Stay safe, stay warm.

One of the absolute BEST local non-profit annual fundraiser events is coming right up! American Home Finding Association 's Annual Chocolate Lovers event! February 9th, 2024! Don't miss it!

And, of course, we are, once again, donating a custom-build BMX bike as one of the MANY items that will be up for auction! And, of course, it will, once again, be built to match the theme of the event! And, of course, it will, once again, be a FANTASTIC bike that will become the proud possession of one lucky bidder in their silent auction!

In the coming weeks, we will be posting "peeks" at what the bike looks like here on our page (PATIENCE! We haven't started building it yet!), but, if you want to "see" the bike "up close" (once it's built - trust us, we will let you know!), you can always drop in the shop! And, of course, if you want to "OWN" the bike, you will need to get your butt to the Chocolate Lovers event and bid on it! So start making plans NOW to be there!

Someone asked recently if things had "slowed down" (with the cooler temps) here at the shop. Heck no! We just recently got caught up on all of the repairs we had in, and now we're working hard to get new bikes assembled and in the window for all of you looking to get your "special someone" that special new bike!

Oh, and we're stocked and ready to rock on skate gear, too!

Stop by and see!

Oh, and if you chose to buy a bike off the interwebs, and you want it professionally assembled (so that it runs/rides like it's supposed to), WE CAN DO THAT FOR YOU! Drop it off and we'll assemble it for a reasonable fee (Toddler bike: $50, Single-speed: $75, Multi-speed: $100, eBike: $125), which includes inspection, proper lubrication, and professional assembly/adjustments as if it was a bike sold from our store. Keep in mind that, for warranty purposes, brands will often specify that their bikes must be assembled by a professional mechanic. Why? Because trained mechanics will be able to identify manufacturing defects that were overlooked at the factory so that they can be remedied prior to the product being ridden, which can avoid any warranty disagreements as to whether "it was like that before it was even ridden", not to mention injuries resulting from defective materials/components. So the assembly fee goes a long way in ensuring your bike will be safe to ride and operate optimally.

And thank you to all who support locally-owned independent businesses! Doing so helps strengthen and grow our local community!

Had to share a couple "before/after" pics of a couple "tune ups" we've recently done. And these were nothing "major", particularly, but they were bikes brought in by fathers who used to ride these bikes when they were kids, and they wanted them tuned up to hand down to their sons to ride.

Just thinking about the memories that were created on these bikes, and now their sons will be able to create their own memories on them.

These are the "fun" jobs.
